Microsoft: Will continue to offer Call of Duty on PlayStation

After Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, many gamers wondered what would happen to popular series like Call of Duty in the future. Microsoft already mentioned in the press release that they do not intend to destroy an existing community around an Activision Blizzard game on PlayStation. Especially multi-platform titles like Call of Duty: Warzone or Overwatch are meant here. Xbox boss Phil Spencer has now made another statement on Twitter.

Accordingly, he telephoned those responsible at Sony this week. In the tweet, Spencer explains that all pre-determined agreements between Sony and Activision Blizzard will remain in place after the acquisition. It is also Microsoft’s desire to continue offering Call of Duty on PlayStation. According to sources from Bloomberg, in the future it will probably be decided from game to game, analogous to the situation at Bethesda, whether a title from Activision Blizzard will also appear outside of the Xbox family (and PC). We will find out what all of this will look like in reality by next year at the latest. Then the takeover will officially take place.
