Buy a graphics card: This is your pain threshold for how much you spend on new hardware
You told us the maximum amount of money you would invest in a graphics card in 2022. And you’re willing to pay big bucks for new ones Hardware to spendMeinMMO presents the results to you.
If you currently want to buy a graphics card, it is not easy. Because while it is difficult to buy a graphics card for a fair price, it is much easier to spend thousands of euros on eBay for an RTX 3080.
MeinMMO therefore wanted to know from its users how much money they are willing to spend on a graphics card. In our survey you voted diligently and also commented on where the pain threshold lies for you.
How could it be voted on? By January 18, 2022, a total of 1802 people had taken part in the survey. Each participant could cast one vote.
The majority does not want to spend more than 800 euros on a graphics card
This is how it was voted on: The majority of you (75.14%) told us that you don’t want to spend more than 800 euros on a graphics card. That’s a total of 1354 participants out of 1802 people. What is particularly interesting here is that there is currently hardly a graphics card that you could buy for less than 800 euros.
Only a fifth of all participants (21%) are also willing to spend 1000 euros or more on a graphics card.

This is what our readers think: Some of our readers also commented on the survey and here the reactions are very different. Many users are quite willing to invest money, but do not want to pay the current graphics card prices.
- For example, our user Luripu says: “My limit is €550, but certainly not for a 3060. As long as the moon prices remain, I won’t buy any. Mine is only 2 years old. I can wait.”
- And user Desten96 comments: “In terms of prices, I’ll stick with my Gtx1070ti even if it gets on my nerves massively. At the end of this year or so, as soon as you can buy NORMAL graphics cards, I’ll build a new PC, but 2000 euros for a new graphics card is not an option. After all, I don’t earn like a millionaire.”
A third even states that he no longer wants to buy hardware for gaming. Because with cloud gaming he would no longer need it. This is how jolux writes on MeinMMO:
Nothing at all. And never again. The days of expensive gaming hardware are history for me. I used to spend thousands of dollars on new hardware. It’s just not necessary anymore. Cloud gaming is the future. And for me it has been the present for almost 2 years […].

MeinMMO readers are willing to spend more money on a graphics card than in 2021
How does it compare to 2021? In 2021, we at MeinMMO asked our readers how much money they wanted to spend on a graphics card.
More than half of all participants (51%) wanted to spend between 500 and 800 euros for a new graphics card. Comparing that to 2022 numbers, people are willing to spend more. If you add up all participants between 500 and 800 euros in 2022, you get 55%.
Compared to 2021, there has also been a general increase in the willingness to invest more money. If in 2021 it was still 15% of users who wanted to spend 1000 euros or more on a graphics card, by 2022 it will be 21%.
However, nothing has changed about the disappointment of the users about the high prices. Furthermore, many users hope that the prices will finally calm down again.
