The 10 mobile phones that emit the most radiation, the iPhone complies

The German Office for Radiation Protection has tested thousands of smartphones to find out the exact radiation they emit.

The German Office for Radiation Protection has compiled a list of 3,807 smartphones and the radiation they emit. Smartphones emit electromagnetic waves that allow wireless connections, however it is radiation that does not pose any health problem.

To prepare this ranking, the German Office for Radiation Protection has been based on the SAR, a measure of the maximum power with which a radiofrequency electromagnetic field is absorbed by living tissue, which is measured in watts per kilogram.

No mobile device emits more radiation than the maximum recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO)

List with the smartphones that emit the most radiation

The list of the German Office for Radiation Protection can be seen on your Web page. You can order the devices from most to least radiation or search for your own. In this list we find more or less current smartphones, since if we include those launched several years ago, the results are different.

  1. Motorola Edge: 1.79 watts per kilogram.
  2. ZTE Axon 11 5G: 1.59 watts per kilogram.
  3. Asus ZenFone 6: 1.57 watts per kilogram.
  4. OnePlus 6T: 1.55 watts per kilogram.
  5. Sony Xperia XA2 Plus: 1.41 watts per kilogram.
  6. Pixel 3A XL de Google: 1.39 watts per kilogram.
  7. Pixel 4A de Google: 1.37 watts per kilogram.
  8. Oppo Reno 5G: 1.36 watts per kilogram.
  9. Google Pixel 3: 1.33 watts per kilogram.
  10. Google Pixel 4: 1.16 watts per kilogram.

Despite these values, the World Health Organization (WHO) points out that the maximum recommended limit for a device such as a smartphone should be must not exceed two watts per kilogram, so there is no smartphone that exceeds this limit.

The latest iPhone models, such as the iPhone 13 Pro Max or iPhone 12 Pro, emit 0.99 watts per kilogram. Which means that they emit half of the maximum radiation recommended by the WHO, so it can be said that they are quite safe.
