The DDoS attack in Andorra left streamers and youtubers offline

Andorra is once again a trend in all social networks. Andorra Telecom, the company that supplies Internet to its 77,200 inhabitants, suffered a DDoS, a cyberattack that affected some of the most famous Spanish streamers live.

This weekend has been somewhat chaotic for some of the most famous youtubers in Spain and the world. They have seen how their main work tool has stopped working due to a hack at the state level. The attack affected the Internet and 4G service of certain clients in Andorra.

We talk about a denial of service attack (known as a DDoS attack), which aims to disable a server, service or infrastructure for its legitimate users.

Problems began to be reported on Friday night when most streamers were on Twitch livestreaming an event based on the Squid Game series. During this, several had to leave the stream due to problems with the network.

Among those who were in the game were faces as popular as Auronplay, El Rubius or TheGrefg.

Because of this, it was decided to postpone until Saturday. However, a second attack occurred that same afternoon leaving numerous streamers disqualified from the competition (they could win a prize of 100,000 euros).

Yesterday at five minutes to eight in the afternoon the operator reported that some clients were experiencing another DDoS, stressed that certain users might experience navigation difficulties and insisted that it was doing everything possible to mitigate the effects. The service stabilized shortly before half past ten.

Despite the impact the attack would end up having on the tournament, streamers received the DDoS with philosophy.

“There are teammates who are not to blame, so for my part I announce my disqualification and I wish my teammates good luck and have a great time.” “It is a pity and an injustice for us, but without a doubt it is the fairest thing for the event and the rest of the participants, which is the most important thing”, Auronplay declared on his stream when he saw how the attack was affecting many of his teammates.

The company (Andorra Telecom, SAU), a public company, is the only Internet provider in the principality, where it has a monopoly on telecommunications. In addition to the network, it provides mobile telephony and television services.

The objective of a DDoS attack, like the one that has affected the streamers in Andorra, is to crash the servers to prevent them from working normally and those who were in charge of executing it knew that they were going to harm them and that it would go viral as a result.
