Zelda BotW apparently recognizes ugly horse picture as real steed
The Zelda community is once again proving their creativity. This time it’s Reddit user Notnilc13 who brightens our day with an oddity from Breath of the Wild. As he proves with a screenshot, an infamous horse painting is recognized as a real steed in the game. But can that really be?

This is behind it: When you photograph certain objects and creatures in BotW, an entry will be made in your Sheikah Stone and the picture will be added as an example. If you take another photo, you can exchange the previous one.
The painting comes from the NPC Pikango, who you can first meet in Kakariko and later throughout Hyrule. If you zoom in on one of his paintings, it becomes clear that the passionate painter is less talented than he might realize.
This trick makes the fun action possible
In the comments below the Reddit post, Notnilc13 reveals that not everything is as it might seem at first glance. In fact, the game doesn’t think Pikango’s image is actually a horse, even though that would have been a fun Easter egg. Instead, Notnilc13 has placed a horse behind the painting, with just enough left in the photograph for the Sheikah Stone to classify it as a horse image.

The fans love the painting: So even though it’s a little sleight of hand, the action is extremely fun and you too can use the painting for your horse entry in the Sheikah Stone. Pikango and his abstract paintings have definitely achieved cult status in the Zelda community. Some fans emulate the artist Reddit even after and copying his masterpieces.
