Tom Holland, who takes on the role of Nathan Drake in the Uncharted film, is not his first role in an action-packed film. Among other things, he also embodies Spider-Man in the new film series of the Marvel hero. But the Uncharted shoot demands a lot more from the actor than the role of the spider man. Holland opened up in a video about the grueling filming of a famous scene we’ve already seen in the movie trailers.

Terrifying twist

It’s all about this: Tom Holland has already stated several times how much the shooting of the Uncharted film takes a toll on him physically and mentally. The role of adventurer Nathan Drake has one major disadvantage compared to Spider-Man: the latter wears a full body suit that allows for the use of CGI, while in Uncharted it’s all up to the actor himself.

Holland talks about a famous scene: In a behind the scenes clip, Tom Holland talked about filming a scene inspired by Uncharted 3. It’s about the moment Nathan Drake is ejected from an airborne plane, clinging to hanging bundles of cargo as he battles enemies.

Holland calls the stunts from the Uncharted film “far bigger” than anything he’s done before in a behind-the-scenes clip (see below) and reports that the airplane scene took about five weeks of filming. He tells how during this time he hung 30 meters in the air on a swinging box almost every day – until he was finally thrown away by it.

The clip shows it being catapulted through the air and overturning. But the actor can also see some good things in the effort and explains:

It was really scary, but I think that level of fear makes this scene so much more authentic.

From new trailer material we now know that while the action scene is very reminiscent of the famous moment from Uncharted 3, the film takes some liberties. The strip does not simply retell the story of one of the games, but can be interpreted as a kind of “best of”.

As of February 10th, we’ll know exactly what Nate, Sully, and Chloe’s adventure will be like. The film will start in German cinemas on that day.

Can you imagine that Tom Holland’s real fear makes the scenes more authentic? Are you looking forward to the movie?
