CoD Warzone & Vanguard: Everything we know about Season 2 so far – release, content, leaks
Season 2 brings new content to Call of Duty: Vanguard and the free Battle Royale Warzone. Not much is known yet. But what is already important to know, we collect for you on MeinMMO.
Call of Duty brings new content to its current titles on PC and console via a live season system. A new season starts every 6 to 8 weeks with a fresh theme, story snippets and brand new free content.
Season 2 has been postponed to February 14th because CoD: Vanguard and Warzone are currently struggling with some problems. What is known about the new season so far, we have collected for you in this overview article.
Please keep in mind that most of the information in this article is leaks, conjecture and unconfirmed information. As soon as there are new details – be it from leaks or from official sources – we will update the article accordingly.
Part of the season starts is always a new Battle Pass, with which you can unlock tons of cosmetics. Most of the time, a mid-season update or a mid-season reloaded update will also come with a second batch of content.
Season 2 – Update and release info
When does Season 2 start? The launch has been pushed back to February 14, 2022 – a Monday and Valentine’s Day at the same time.
Whether the new season with us on 14.02. starts or due to the time difference only on 15.02. early in the morning, but cannot yet say for sure.
Will there be an update? A major update is pretty certain for Vanguard. There are new maps, cosmetics and probably content for zombie mode. It is difficult to estimate how large the download will be. Possibly between 5 and 10 GB or more.
For Warzone, a prediction is even harder. Some of the updates used to be huge, even if hardly visible content was added. Here we have to wait until there are more details.
Is there a preload? In the last few seasons, CoD has always offered a preload for Warzone and the current premium title. However, not all players get access to the pre-download at the same time.
If you want to download beforehand, check your platform the day before the update to see if you can already download the patch.
General Content – Battle Pass, Weapons, Operator
What is already known? Since the course of a season in CoD follows certain patterns, some content is already considered safe:
- A new Battle Pass for around 10 euros with 100 levels
- New faces to the Operator Collection
- At least 2 new firearms
- Lots of fresh cosmetics on the seasonal theme
However, there are no real details yet.

What’s coming in Warzone Season 2?
So far there is no indication of how the battle royale will continue in the next season. New weapons and operators are safe. But when it comes to gameplay-related content, we’re still fishing in the dark.
For example, players found a very large building on the mini-map that does not exist on the playable map.
That being said, players are expecting many balancing changes and improvements to the shooter itself. Warzone is plagued with many bugs, and adjustments have been few since the developers said “we hear you”.
In addition, there is currently a problem with cheaters who jet across the map with flying vehicles.
A few months after the release of the Warzone, the bunkers were opened, from which you could get strong loot. Similar bunkers can also be found on the new map Caldera. Something might be happening here.

What’s coming in Vanguard Season 2?
What is there for multiplayer? As always, there will be new maps and fresh game modes. However, we don’t have any concrete information on this yet.
However, what is already known: Vanguard gets the “League Play” mode with Season 2. The game modes in League Play are separate from the normal matches and have their own rules. This mode creates matches with a high reliance on player skills.
Certain weapons are banned there, for example, or gadgets that would give too great an advantage in the rather competitive environment. You can read here what League Play looked like in the predecessor Cold War.
However, it is not certain when the mode will come exactly. So far it only says “in February” along with other Season 2 content (via www.callofdutyleague.com).
What zombies are there? Here we already know more. The developers of the zombie mode for Warzone, Treyarch, already talked about Season 2 in a blog (via treyarch.com). Here’s what you can expect:
- Pause function for solo players
- New hub, similar to Stalingrad
- More survival content
- Fresh story quests
- New “Demon” including artifact
- New type of enemies
- More mission objectives for the portals
- Multiple Miracle Weapons
However, there is no timetable. Some things could come right at the season release on February 14th, others maybe not until mid-season a few weeks later.
