In Rainbow Six: Extraction you work together against evil aliens that threaten our existence. So that you are not suddenly alone in front of the monsters, Ubisoft is introducing the Buddy Pass from today. If you own the full version, you can invite up to two friends to the co-op games without them having to buy the game. We explain in detail how the system works. (via Ubisoft)

You bought Rainbow Six: Extraction? Then you can hand out two so-called Buddy Pass tokens from this afternoon (starting shot is probably 4 p.m.). Anyone who receives one and has accepted the invitation then has the following 14 days to access the game. There is no need to buy Extraction separately for this, but the free trial version is required.

This is how you proceed to send the tokens:

  • Opens the squad menu.
  • Choose your friends list and invite a friend to join your team.
  • Select the invited friend’s name.
  • Select Send Buddy Pass Token.

How the trial works: The Rainbow Six: Extraction demo gives you access to the full game “excluding post-launch content, the Maelstrom Protocol mode and the in-game store” for a limited time only. If this has expired, you can no longer start the trial version. Playing with a Buddy Pass token will stop the demo timer and allow you to use any content that the host has already unlocked.

Our test video shows how fun the co-op alien shooter is:

There is something else to consider

Progress is saved: You can take all trophies, achievements and items that you unlocked while playing the trial version with you into the full version if you decide to make a purchase afterwards.

Crossplay is supported: You can also distribute your tokens to people playing on different platforms than you, because Rainbow Six: Extraction has a crossplay function. However, you need an account with Ubisoft Connect for this.

Online subscription required: If you want to play Rainbow Six: Extraction online, you need a subscription to PS Plus or Xbox Live Gold on consoles. This applies to everyone, regardless of whether they have a full version, trial version or buddy token.

Rainbow Six: Extraction is available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia. The title will also be included in Xbox Game Pass at launch.
