It sounds like a joke – and not a very good one, I know – but for Chinese drivers who have an Elon Musk signature vehicle in their garages, it is a more than real option. The company has begun to market a new device in the Asian Giant, the TeslaMic that allows exactly that: turn your Tesla car into a real karaoke room.

In the car, like in a party room

The company has introduced it as part of the updates for the Chinese New Year, which is celebrated in early February. In order for the vehicle to act as a party room, its infotainment system also incorporates a karaoke platform, Leishi KTV. The microphones would be paired with the system automatically. To make the experience more fun, they also incorporate sound modes that help singers.

At least for now, TeslaMic is only available in China and is sold in packs of two – singing karaoke alone in the car is no longer so funny – for 1,199 yuan, the equivalent of 188 dollars or 168 euros, depending on the prices. disclosed by Electreck before the website crashed.

If you want to get an idea of ​​how TeslaMic works, you can take a look at the presentation video posted by the company itself at his Weibo channel, the popular Chinese microblogging platform. In the recording, two users are seen inside the car – well parked, yes – selecting a song on the screen and singing at the top of their lungs with two microphones. The video also shows them singing with the TeslaMic abroadnext to the vehicle.

In its post, the firm explains that the novelty will be included in the 2022.2.1 software update. The resource would in any case extend a Karaoke function that had already presented in 2019 (V10) and allowed to hear the songs through the speakers while the screen showed the lyrics.
