Xiaomi Mi 360 Home Security Camera 2K Pro, analysis and opinion

Many of the products that we analyze, the vast majority, are assignments by the different companies. However, there are times that we also talk to you about devices that we buy for our strictly personal use, but to which we see a certain attraction to express our opinion in a text.

And basically, that is what I am going to do next, tell you about my experience with one of the Wi-Fi security cameras that Xiaomi has for sale.

The essence of the modern lock has changed little in the last 200 years, but technology has given it an extra boost by incorporating wireless openings.

It is a device that came home a few weeks ago accompanying our new dog, a family member who has ended up showing that she behaves well at home, but whom we did not trust very much.

Thus, after three weeks with the aforementioned camera, I tell you my opinion and more personal experience with this Camera 2K Pro from Xiaomi.

Sections of the Xiaomi Mi 360 2K Pro camera analysis:

Futuristic design that you can put on any surface or hang from the ceiling

Although there is not much to say about the design, since practically everything important is obvious, I am going to start by talking about the aesthetic section of this camera.

It is quite simple and, like practically everything from Xiaomi, it sticks to any surface. has that modern design in white that it shares with the rest of the home ecosystem of the Chinese company and at a glance we see that the toothbrush, the accessories for pets, the air fryer -analysis- or even the pen, maintain consistency.

The truth is that it seems to me to be a fairly adequate size with its 122 millimeters in height and it allows me to have it on one of the sides of the cabinet where the TV is without breaking coherence with the rest of the devices around.

It is noted that the plastic is not of the best quality, but it is not a device that we are going to be touching either. Every two for three. In fact, there is no reason to do it once we place it in the final place, well, and the important thing is the two moving parts.

On the one hand we have the base, which is capable of making the upper part rotate 360º, hence the name of the camera. On the other is the black area in which the lens is located. This piece can only go up or down and serves both to guide the vision and to cover the camera.

In this way we guarantee that he is not watching us when we are on the sofa and, to be honest, it is somewhat quieter if I close it when I am at home.

It can be closed manually, but the motor shows resistance and it is best to turn off the camera from the application, which I will talk about later.

Well, finishing with the design we have the “Mi” logo on the front and the microUSB 2.0 on the back next to a button to reset the parameters.

And, as I told you, there is not much else to talk about when it comes to design. In the box it comes with a support that allows us to place the camera on the ceiling or on the wall, although some work has to be done, and it also comes with a 10 W charger that I am not using because behind the TV I have a power strip with ports USB-A and it is where the USB-A to microUSB of the camera is connected.

Ideal for keeping an eye on animals, although it is good for much more

Having seen the design, I go to the important part of all this: my experience, the image quality, what the camera can be used for and what I am actually using it for.

The first thing to do as soon as you turn it on is to download the Xiaomi Home application, which is where the different smart devices of the brand are brought together. Pairing it is very simple, since you only have to scan the QR of the base, connect the mobile to the Wi-Fi of the camera and, with that, you share the Wi-Fi at home. And ready.

When you have it, your devices appear in the app panel, but also a window where you can see a live image from the camera. This is very useful if you have it well focused on a fixed point and you don’t need to move the camera. You simply enter the app, take a look, see that everything is fine… and live in peace.

However, the options expand if you click on the camera, since there we are going to have full control. Here we have a split screen that shows us an image in the upper half and some controls in the lower half.

We have like a pad to move the base (and the camera, obviously) and the up and down to control the tilt. We also have the camera photon to take a photo, the video photon to record a video and a microphone.

The microphone is very useful because it also has a speaker. That means I can listen to what’s going on at home, but I can also choose to speak and have the voice play through the camera. What have I used it for? Well, if the bitch was messing around and I’m home, I say her name and she usually stays “blocked” for a while thinking what the hell just happened.

From this same screen I can set the resolution to be 2K, 360p or auto, I have the on/off button to cover the camera and one to expand the screen.

There the app goes horizontal and we have the full screen, having the same actions as before, but seeing the larger content. And something interesting is that in this mode we can move simply by moving our finger across the screen and, thanks to the 2K resolution, we can zoom up to 6x digital.

The image quality I think is really good considering the circumstances and that it is a surveillance camera, not a video camera, but something that amazed me the first night is the night vision function.

As we have infrared, as soon as the light goes out a bit, it combines both the normal camera and the infrared vision to give the best possible image, which is also quite well exposed, and if the darkness is total, vision becomes 100% infrared.

If it’s night, the dog is sleeping in the living room, I hear a knock and I think it might be her, instead of getting out of bed, I pick up my mobile, turn on the camera and it’s clear if she’s messed with us or if the poor thing is sleeping on the sofa and the blow is from something else (probably a mess of the cats, although that matters less to me because they are not in the living room at night).

Now, although I use it to control our dog when we are away from home, it also works as a surveillance camera if you have a small child in a room or if you want a surveillance camera at home because you are calmer when you go out, but You don’t want to hire a security company.

That’s where it comes into play automatic surveillance, a very interesting mode that keeps the camera on and that it automatically records video clips when it notices a light turning on or something moving in the room.

This is saved in the mobile or in memory card up to 32 GB and the minutes of recording obviously depend on the card you insert and the quality, which can be 720p or 1080p.

The app tells me that with a 16 GB card you can record up to 48 hours in 720p, more than enough to rest easy because we don’t need more resolution, but if you want the video in 1080p, in those same 16 GB you have about 36 hours .

If the card is 32 GB, the app tells me that I have 5 days in 720p or 3 days of video in FullHD.

In addition, in this automatic surveillance mode, the date and time are also recorded so that you have the exact reference to what happened that caused the start of the recording.

About 60 euros is the price of peace of mind if you leave home and have pets

In the end, the truth is that I am very satisfied with the purchase and, precisely for this reason, I wanted to tell you that if you are in a similar situation, in which you leave the house and think “I hope the bugs don’t mess me up and I find everything fine when i come back” this Xiaomi camera is a tool that gives peace of mind.

It is also useful in other cases mentioned, such as the possibility of using it as a surveillance camera or as a camera for a baby’s room, since it is compatible, and I liked this a lot, both with Google Assistant and with assistants with a screen.

Security camera capable of rotating 360º and with night vision, motion and loud noise detection, 2K resolution and microSD or cloud storage.

Without going any further, you can use the Xiaomi Smart Clock -analysis- to see the image of the camera and this is very useful if you have a baby and you place the camera in his room to see, through the Smart Clock in your office or in another room, how he is.

It’s not perfect because I wish there was a physical button to lower the screen and not having to take out the phone every time I want to block the image, and there could also be a new version with USB-C, but for the 60 euros, more or less, that it cost me, I am very, very satisfied.
