Dying Light 2: Cut or Uncut – Which version are you playing?

The new survival game Dying Light 2 appears in Germany as a cut version. Nevertheless, the uncut version is for sale – just not in this country. But it remains playable. Which version are you using?

How are the versions different? In Dying Light 2 you play as a survivor of the zombie apocalypse. Mankind is near the end and survival is correspondingly hard – and bloody at that.

Since the scenes shown can sometimes be very detailed, Dying Light 2 will be cut in Germany. Particularly brutal violence is removed, but at the core there are only 2 big differences:

• Human opponents cannot be decapitated or dismembered.
• Neutral NPCs cannot be killed.

How big the difference is in the end and how much it affects your playing experience is up to you to decide. But now we want to know from you: do you play cut or uncut?

Cut vs. Uncut – A question of friends

You have to pay attention to this: The two versions aren’t very different from each other, but there’s a catch. Dying Light 2 is playable in co-op, but only on the same version.

If you buy the cut version and want to gamble with friends who play Dying Light 2 uncut, that won’t work. The “international” version is not compatible with the “German”. So you have to agree on a version with your friends.

Activation via Steam and Co. should not be a problem in Germany. You can also own the version, but you can’t buy it in German stores. If necessary, you have to obtain uncut versions from Austria or Switzerland, for example.

When will Dying Light 2 be released? The survival game will be playable on PC, PlayStation and Xbox from February 4th, 2022. A switch version will appear within the next 6 months, but so far without a specific date.

For the time after the release is also already planned. Dying Light 2 will bring DLCs and content to support the game for years to come. At least until 2027 there should be new content. You can read more about this in the roadmap:
