WoW players cheer new ban: “I can see the trade channel again!”

World of Warcraft players have had their trade channel back a few hours after Blizzard banned cross-realm boosting community spam. Some can’t believe their luck thanks to the boosting change.

The time of negative reports about World of Warcraft seems to be over for the time being. After a rumor was confirmed last night, boosting communities in World of Warcraft have been banned under a new rule. This had a pretty interesting effect almost immediately:

The trade channels in World of Warcraft are readable again, the spam is over.

Boosters have been spamming trade channels for years

What was the situation before? Depending on the size of the realm, trade chat in World of Warcraft has been many things over the past few years, but not really a place for trade. Above all, boosting communities offered their offers here, such as moving through dungeons or raids. Since these groups operated across servers, they had alternate characters on numerous realms advertising their offers every few seconds.

The chat was a barrage of messages, actual trading impossible.

What has changed now? Massive advertising of boosting offers is forbidden “overnight”, especially on other realms. As a result, the trade channel on numerous realms could once again be used for its original purpose – trading or simply talking in a multi-city chat.

Here’s how the community is reacting: Overall, the change has been well received by many players, no matter how they viewed boosting. The fact that the trade chat is legible again causes a lot of enthusiasm, as numerous players share in the World of Warcraft subreddit.

A screenshot from the user PUSCIFER shows the amazed and delighted players on his realm, who suddenly can write to each other again. There are a whopping 2,500 upvotes for it, along with numerous comments.

This small clip is also particularly nice, which shows a “before and after comparison” of what trading chat looks like on the EU realm Kazzak.

On the left you can clearly see the messages from boosting offers rushing through the chat, on the right you can see actual players talking after the change.

Reikschield, for example, writes clearly amused on the subject:

Alright guys! Now back to politics talk and anime spoilers. Let’s go Hypeeeee!

Malarkeycreator takes it a little more seriously:

It really is that beautiful. I didn’t think I cared that much but it’s a big quality of life improvement. I don’t even write [im Handelschannel], but it’s just nice to see no more spam there.

However, the change did not only bring positive things with it, as PUSCIFER corrected later. There he writes:

Update: Now the channel is spammed full of anal jokes.

But that only garners reactions like, “Just as the Lord intended.”

Some things never change in World of Warcraft—even when things change.

How did you experience that on your realm? Has trade chat improved that much there as well? Or has everything stayed the same with you?
