Zelda Breath of the Wild is often criticized for the weapons breaking after a while in use. The main exception to this rule is the Master Sword, which is indestructible. It only needs to gather strength from time to time, but it never breaks. But of course you have to get it first and that’s not that easy. You can read how to do this here.

Where is the Master Sword hidden in Zelda Breath of the Wild?

In the Krog Forest: In order to get the legendary hero’s abjuring sword, you have to explore the forest of the Krogs. It is best to start from the Tower of the Woods and sail northeast from there. Here a path leads directly to the entrance of the Lost Woods, which you have to cross to get to the Krog Forest for the first time. Later you can just teleport back.

In the lost woods There are special rules: If you leave the correct path, you will be sent back to the entrance or later to a checkpoint. The trick is to follow the torches and their sparks. If you don’t see any more torches, light one of your own and follow it Direction in which the sparks fly.

As soon as you have reached a small gorge, it is always straight ahead into the forest of the Krogs. There you should urgently activate the shrine first, in order to be able to teleport there easily later on. You can even sleep, cook and shop in the Deku Tree.

How can I pull the master sword out of the stone?

In the forest of the Krogs you finally find the legendary banishing sword, but it’s stuck in the stone. You can always try to pull it out, but use caution when doing so. You can only do the task at a certain point take care of.

The real challenge is to have enough heart containers and life energy. You must already be over 13 full hearts dispose to be able to pull the sword out of the stone without bless the time. If you don’t have enough, do Shrines and exchange the Marks of Probation at Statues of the Goddess for Heart Containers.

This is what makes the sword so special:

  • At first, the attack power of 30 doesn’t seem particularly impressive. However, if you fight creatures affected by the Ganon ravage, Attack value doubles (e.g. all opponents in Hyrule Castle, including Ganon).
  • The sword never breaks. If it has used up its energy, you have to wait a bit until it works again.
  • Shoot: You can’t throw the Master Sword, but you can shoot it. As long as Link is at full health, you can hold R and release an energy beam when you let go.
  • Trials of the Sword: Both the attack value as well as the amount of energy and thus the duration of use of the expelling sword can be drastically increased by the “Trials of the Sword” in DLC pack 1 “The Legendary Trials”. However, these are really tough challenges that should demand everything from you and if you fail you have to start all over again.

Incidentally, there is also a very simple trick with which the sword can be pulled out of the stone much earlier. If you have a bundle of wood and the ability to make a fire, you can use a glitch to pick up the Master Sword just like that. It’s just not the same, and maybe less satisfying, but of course useful.
