There are a whole lot of special items and consumables that can be used to boost your bonuses in Elden Ring. Great Runes are one of the items dropped by the main bosses that can be equipped to earn passive bonuses. There’s one each Great rune dropped by the main bosses after defeating them. If you have just started with the game, you might have gotten your hands on some Rune Arcs. It will all come together when you activate these Great Runes. So, here’s our guide on how to equip Great runes in Elden Ring.

How to Equip Great Runes in Elden Ring?

  • The first Great Rune is dropped by the first demi-god or main boss of the game, Godrick the Grafted.

  • Once you have defeated Godrick, he will drop some runes along with a Remembrance of the Grafted and the Godrick’s Great Rune.
  • While Remembrances are easy to sell or equip, you will need a rune arc to activate a Great Rune.
  • You will need to restore its power at the Divine tower of Limgrave.
  • Fast travel to the Stormveil Castle other head to the southeast from a site of grace.
  • When you see a building, enter the building and defeat all the opponents around.
  • Go to the end of the bridge after fighting or running away from the three giants of the bridge.
  • You will find a portal over there, use it to teleport to the Tall Tower.
  • Open the gate of the tower and proceed through the elevator.
  • Get to the top of the tower to interact and restore the Great Rune.
  • Once you have restored a Great Rune, rest at a site of Grace to equip the Rune.
  • As you rest you will see a lot of options in the side-left menu. Select the Great Runes and then equip Godrick’s Great Rune.
  • When you activate Godrick’s Great Rune with a Rune Arc it will give a boost to all of your attribute points.

How long do Great Runes last in Elden Ring?

  • Its boosted effects are permanent and will continue to be activated until you die in the game.
  • You will have to use another Rune Arc to regain its passive buffs.
  • If you are looking for Rune Arcs, you can head over to Round table hold and purchase them in exchange for 4000 runes.
  • Alternatively, you can also head to Liurnia of the Lakes to buy Rune Arcs.
  • Each Great Rune dropped by the main bosses offers different buffs and bonuses.

What are the other Great Runes?

  • Great Rune of the Unborn: You can get this Great Rune by defeating Queen of the Full Moon, Rennala at Raya Lucaria Academy.

  • Radahn’s Great Rune: You can get this Great Rune as a reward for defeating Starscrouge Radahn at Caelid’s Redmane castle.
    You can use this Great Rune to raise your stamina, FP, and Health.
  • Rykard’s Great Rune: This is one of the most efficient Great Rune as it restores your health after defeating your opponents.
    You can earn this reward for defeating the Lord of Blasphemy, Rykard at Volcano Manor.
  • Margott’s Great Rune: It is earned as a reward for defeating the Omen King, Margott at Leyndell.
    You can equip this Rune to raise your HP to the maximum.
  • Malenia’s Great Rune: You can earn this Great Rune for defeating Queen Malenia at the Brace of Haligtree.
    Activating this rune will recover your health from the attacks by the opponents.
  • Mohg’s Great Rune: You can receive this Great Rune for defeating the Lord of Blood, Mohg at Mogwyn Palace as you proceed in the game.
    You can activate its Great Rune to power up the Spirit ashes and summons.
