Pokémon GO developers introduce new game - let you collect and breed cute pets

Niantic is known for the ongoing development of Pokémon GO, but it’s also working on other games. Now they announced the development of a completely new IP: Peridot. In this mobile game you tame, collect and train cute pets.

What is this game exactly? Peridot is a pet simulation game. You take care of the cute animals called Dots, who have awakened from their stasis after thousands of years. You ensure that they grow up safely, learn new tricks and even reproduce.

Each Dot should be unique in terms of its DNA, so that the breeding aspect will play a particularly important role. Each Dot has different physical characteristics, but also adjusted personalities. Apparently only the four legs and the sweet, big eyes remain the same.

When is the game out? The first beta tests are scheduled for April. However, these will start in selected countries, the number of which will gradually be expanded. It is currently not known when exactly the game will be available in Germany.

Peridot has some overlap with Pokémon GO

Where are the two games similar? As with Pokémon GO, the game relies on augmented reality. So you will see your companion through the camera in the real world and you will also have to satisfy his need for movement. You can also find food and items by moving outside.

Breeding, on the other hand, should be done so that you visit nests in the open world, similar to the stops in Pokémon GO. In these nests there are either wild dots or other players’ pets. Then they can mate.

The offspring should then immediately fall from the sky and be used by the players. The focus is on the various properties that the players should be able to cultivate in their peridots.

What do you think of Niantic’s new game? Does the concept appeal to you, or do you prefer to stick with Pokémon GO, where the focus is on fighting and catching? Feel free to write it in the comments.
