Oh dear, life in the Elden Rings Lands is tough. Many of the people we meet are struggling with serious problems – like being stuck in a hole and needing a kick in the “ass.” It’s our job to rush to their aid on the way to the Elden Throne. Because then everything can only get better – right? A hilarious YouTube video will probably disillusion you.

Spoiler alert: This article contains strong story spoilers for NPC quests and their outcome.

Seven lives ruined

It’s all about this: There is a video on the YouTube channel Outside Xtra entitled “7 Elden Ring NPCs Whose Lives You Ruined By Trying To ‘Help'”. The video description is even harsher on us unthinking gamers – and on the Elden Ring:

These Elden Ring sidequests have all been tragic, futile, or tragically futile, and it’s all your fault.

Of course, the statement is to be seen with a wink, but it borders on evil humor, as Souls games make us believe we can help, only to finally plunge the characters we’re jumping alongside into the abyss.

The video summarizes seven dramatic side missions. Among other things, it is about poorly run schools, sudden deaths and culinary preferences that take some getting used to. I already wrote about Sellen’s questline, which is also part of the video, in a column.

The video is about the following NPCs:

  • boc
  • Blackguard
  • Blackguard Big Boggart
  • Wizard Thops
  • Patches/Tanith
  • Warrior Vessel Alexander/Vessel Child
  • Hyetta
  • Sorceress Sellen

More on Elden Ring:

Alexander’s fate

Some of the stories are certainly more tragic than others. Patches, Tanith, and Boggart might not feel too sorry for you, but admit it: if you’ve completed Alexander’s quest, you’ll at least have some regrets.

Alexander’s fate: The funny Potboy was a crowd favorite even before the game was released. Well, in the game he puts us in a bit of an embarrassing position from time to time and we also learn what he actually keeps inside: corpses. OK. Still, you won’t have wished that – as the video aptly puts it – “the nicest NPC just explodes in a shower of blood”.

Isn't it enough that it gets one of the best? Does it still have to be like this?

we could have guessed, right? But the video also tells us that we could have known from the start. After all, it’s not the best idea if a fragile vessel wants to be a warrior and take on gigantic enemies. Well, what happened is what happened.

In the end, as will be explained, all that remains is for us to report back to Alexander’s nephew – thereby inspiring him to leave his peaceful and idyllic home to emulate his uncle. Oh wait. oops Can we add one more life to the list? But that’s the way they are, the NPC stories from FromSoftware.

Have you ruined one or the other life in the intermediate country? How do you feel about that? Tell us in the comments.
