Right now, when Destiny 2 only has one highlight of Season 16, the Guardian Games 2022, the players are asking themselves more and more: “What actually comes after that?” Only Bungie employees know that at the moment, but apparently they are They are already more than enthusiastic about the new content. MeinMMO has compiled the information and statements for the upcoming Season 17 for you.

The campaign surrounding the Witch Queen, the Witness and his apprentice in Destiny 2 currently has a lot of interesting storylines. While the experienced Iron Lord Saladin shows a young wolf the right way, the players are about to master the new challenges.

  • Tonight the Grandmaster Challenge starts in the Apprentice’s Oath Raid
  • On May 3rd, the Guardian Games 2022 will take place and open the class battle
  • And in the trials, players will be able to vote on the map for May 6th

Beyond that, not much is known. No wonder players pricked up their ears when some Bungie employees talked about the upcoming Season 17. And that certainly sounds like Bungie wants to continue to keep the tension in the story.

Where will the Destiny 2 story go in Season 17?

Who started the hype? Hazel Monforton triggered the first hype about the upcoming Season 17. She recently joined Bungie as a Senior Narrative Designer, primarily working on the seasonal content for Destiny 2.

When she made a post on Twitter on April 17th, she immediately caught the attention of the Destiny 2 community.

In her tweet she teases the new season 17 as “phenomenal” and promises “you will love her”.

She doesn’t seem to be alone with this opinion at Bungie either. Obviously, the new Season 17 has also really excited other Bungie employees, like Ben Platnick. He is a VFX Artist at Bungie and works primarily on weapons and emotes.

For example, he was responsible for the VFX changes for the exotic grenade launcher “Parasite” and worked on the unique resonance design of the exclusive Raid Sparrow’s “Light Fugue” worked.

Ben writes about the new Season 17 that it is the best work of the team and other contributors.

In addition, it also looks as if players can expect another special aha moment in Season 17, similar to what was already during the Witch Queen campaign.

Vince Ste. Marie, Performance Test Engineer at Bungie, wrote in response to Hazel Monforton’s tweet:

I can’t tell you how many times I test [von Season 17] saw a scene and said “oh holy shit” in response.

Is it all just PR or genuine enthusiasm? Of course, one should assume that Bungie employees are also enthusiastic about their own work. But that really sounds like something that could make the upcoming Season 17 quite exciting. Especially if you’re already excited about the new way Bungie is currently building its stories.

If you’ve ever loved Destiny 2, play Witch Queen now – it hasn’t been this good in years

This is currently known in Destiny 2 through Season 17

Destiny 2 is currently planning a major update for weapons and meta. The first information for the players will probably be published as early as Thursday, April 21st.

In addition, Bungie has already addressed a few details for Season 17.

  • The Iron Banner will be reworked and maybe upgraded with it.
  • There will be a new dungeon for 3 players.
  • From Season 17, old raids and dungeons will be rotated.

What happens in the story during Season 17? While some upcoming content is known, the development of the story in Season 17 is still a mystery. Mainly because Bungie has left some storylines completely open at the moment, but continuing them would still make sense.

Basically, if you take the past as a benchmark, it is unlikely that Bungie will continue directly with the story about Savathun in Season 17. More likely, players will have to complete a few other open story endings first.

Will players soon learn the fate of the Leviathan?

The exotic mission “Vox Obscura” in particular has great potential for a sequel. Over a period of several weeks, players could listen to some voice lines with Caiatl and Commander Zavala. So maybe players will soon find out what happened to Calus and the Leviathan.

In addition, the fate of Lord Saladin is also interesting. Will he stay with the cabal and soon run out of time to get up the tower? Does he then also determine the fate of the crow, who is currently deeply in his debt? It wouldn’t be the first time a Hunter-Warden has accepted a post with the Vanguard for an old debt.

Or will we hear from Ana Bray again soon? After all, she continues to work in the tower to restore the Warmind “Rasputin”. Perhaps she resorted to unfair means and used the controversial SIVA technology in order to be able to fully reactivate him?

There are enough open story ends for Season 17: As always, Destiny 2 has some options for a sequel in Season 17. But as it stands, we can only hope that the Bungie employees do not promise us too much and that the upcoming content will continue to be exciting for the players.

What do you think is coming to the players in the new season 17? Can we expect the return of old technologies? Or do you think they might thaw out the good Eramis from Beyond Light after all? Did you perhaps find clues in the game that led you to future events? We’d love to hear your thoughts on what you might want in Season 17, so we’d love to hear your comments.
