El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron: Japanese cult game comes to the Switch

El Shaddai was crazy! The wacky action game with religious borrowings was a candidate for the “Style over Substance” brand – after a Steam release in 2021, the next port is now pending: on the switch.

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron (from 13:26€ at buy) – so the full title – was already a flawless game when it was released in 2011. Nevertheless, it was remembered, it was pure optical ecstasy. A frenzy of color and form, a dance on the razor blade between a tangled feverish dream and a commercial video game. Takeyasu Sawakis, previously employed by Capcom and Team Clover, delivered his creative magnum opus here.

Sawakis Studio Crim has now confirmed that a Switch implementation is in the works – details will be explained in a video that will be released on April 28th. Of course, we are curious to see to what extent the Nintendo port differs from the Xbox 360 and PS3 original or the HD remaster on Steam, but El Shaddai will still be a more than exciting game in 2022.
