Lost Ark: Player reaches controversial Gearscore of 1,370 without real money – takes almost an eternity

A few days ago, the player Zakkyyy shared a picture on reddit about Lost Ark in which he shows his character with a Gearscore of 1,370. The special thing about it is that he hasn’t invested a cent in the game yet. We at MeinMMO asked him a few questions about this milestone.

What exactly did the player achieve? With his Pistol Lancer, Zakkyyy has reached level 54 and above all a Gearscore of 1,370. This value is controversial because it is preceded by the so-called “dead zone”.

This zone goes from 1340 to 1370 and requires high grind. Some users skip this grind where they can exchange real money for in-game currency and thus buy the upgrade materials in the auction house.

However, Zakkyyy has been playing without betting real money since day 1 and has also managed to break this dead zone. During that time, he suffered a few failures on upgrades – 155 to be exact. We asked him how long it took him to do this.

Almost 600 hours of play and hardly any additional characters

How long has he been grinding? According to Steam, Zakkeyyy had 595 hours of gameplay when he achieved this achievement. However, you have to subtract the times in the queue for release and some AFK time.

Despite this, he averages 9.3 hours a day online. About 64 days passed between the release and its success.

In addition to his main character, he only brought one other character into Tier 2. So his focus was clearly on the Pistol Lancer and not putting hours into extra alts.

Is he a hardcore gamer? According to his own statement not. Although Zakkyyy has played MMORPGs for years, including Metin 2, TERA and Fiesta Online, he has never been a real hardcore gamer. He also took it easy on Lost Ark – at least in terms of playstyle and objectives. He has been waiting for the release since 2013 and now wants to experience everything and as much of it as possible.

If you farm specifically, you will probably be able to jump the hurdle of 1,370 in the Gearscore much faster as a Free2Play player. There are also some comments on reddit in which users say that they have already achieved a Gearscore of around 1,395 without money.

However, Zakkyyy shows that you can also master the dead zone comfortably, as long as you invest enough time. Real money makes it faster, but is not absolutely necessary.
