Assassin’s Creed fans currently have to be content with the new Easter update and Odin DLC from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, a new part of the series is not yet in sight. According to insiders, with the standalone title Assassin’s Creed Rift originally planned as a Valhalla DLC, there should still be an offshoot at the end of 2022 or beginning of 2023, according to one, a new main part is lagging kotaku-Report but in development behind.

Sexism issues at Ubisoft: The French developer and publisher has been accused of a toxic corporate culture since July 2020. These include far-reaching sexism problems, misogyny and discrimination, which are said to be deeply rooted in the company. Although Ubisoft has already drawn conclusions, for example by exchanging management staff and openly commenting on the allegations, many employees feel that these measures are not sufficient within the company.

Ubisoft is struggling with production difficulties

According to several insiders, Ubisoft had to postpone the release of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed game internally. Not only AC should be affected by the postponement, the next Far Cry should also appear at a later date than originally planned.

What’s behind it? Bloomberg reports that Ubisoft should be the target of the next takeover. Several venture capital firms such as Blackstone Inc. and KKR & Co. are said to have expressed interest in a deal with Ubisoft.

Ubisoft itself is said to have not yet entered into serious negotiations with potential buyers, but is not fundamentally opposed to a deal either:

According to Kotaku, Ubisoft also worked closely with external consulting firms to review various areas of the company. This should make Ubisoft more profitable, which could indicate preparation for a possible mega deal.

Why should Ubisoft go through with the sale? Ubisoft is currently on a weakening share price and is complaining about ongoing production difficulties. According to the reports, the catastrophic condition of the many studios is also a reason why Ubisoft could enter into a deal.

With the preparations for a possible deal and the associated postponements, it could be that the Ragnarök DLC for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will probably be the last we might see from the franchise in the near future:

Ubisoft rumors could be true

How likely is that? Both Bloomberg and Kotaku are trustworthy sources, so it can be assumed that there is actually a great interest in buying Ubisoft. However, that does not mean that there will actually be a deal. Meanwhile, Ubisoft only states that they do not comment on rumors or speculation.

How do you see the next potential big acquisition? Do you have concerns about such a deal?
