Cheaters in CoD Warzone are no longer just banned – they are severely humiliated
Call of Duty: Warzone continues to work on its anti-cheat system RICOCHET. Developers are trying new tools and analysis techniques to catch cheaters. Also, they let some cheaters keep playing and you can then humiliate them hard.
With the introduction of the new map Caldera in Call of Duty: Warzone, in late 2021, a new anti-cheat system also came into play: RICOCHET. This was also urgently needed – the free Battle Royale was downright contaminated.
And even if the new system isn’t perfect and can’t identify all cheaters by a long shot: It’s already having an effect and with every passing day, with every piece of new information about cheat programs, the system works better and better.
Cheaters are not only banned. RICOCHET has some interesting features where the cheaters stay in the game but don’t get a chance to harm you.
Damage-Shield and Cloaking – Tools of humiliation
What are these functions? Warzone’s #TeamRICOCHET cannot be looked at completely in the cards. Any information about how the anti-cheat system works could help to bypass the measures.
However, the security experts regularly give progress updates. In these reports, the anti-cheaters have already presented 2 interesting “mitigation” tools:
What does the damage shield do? If the cheater gains a damage shield, the cheat’s bullets will no longer damage lawful players. A wonderful state that some players also know how to take advantage of.

What does Cloaking do? With cloaking, cheaters should be at least as confused as with damage shield. Because cheaters affected by cloaking can no longer see or even hear anyone else.
From their point of view, the cheats are then completely alone on the map and have no chance of doing anything bad to anyone.
However, these are only 2 tools and #TeamRICOCHET uses many more of these “mitigations”. There are also mixed forms where the cheaters first see the players and when they fire at them, the enemies disappear:

Why is the anti-cheat doing this? The security team reports that analyzing the data helps them better understand cheaters. You want to find out more about the software processes on a cheater PC.
Instead of banning the cheaters directly and thus removing a valuable source of information directly from the game, they examine the software interactions on the PCs of the cheats caught and thus obtain valuable data.

Cheats continue to be a problem in Warzone and it remains to be seen whether there will ever be a perfect anti-cheat system that recognizes cheaters directly from the installed software.
