New update in Lost Ark well received – player counts on Steam increase by 200,000
The MMORPG Lost Ark had an extremely strong start in terms of player numbers. However, these then fell rapidly until the big April update. Now the game can be at the forefront of Steam again. We at MeinMMO summarize.
What’s going on at Lost Ark? The MMORPG got off to a really strong start on Steam with over 1.3 million concurrent players, but it’s been almost 3 months now. During this time, Lost Ark was slowly losing concurrent fans, which was to be expected. About two weeks ago the game had about 350,000 players in the 24-hour peak.
But last week’s big April update sets the trend in the opposite direction again. For a short time, Lost Ark could even be the game with the most simultaneous players on Steam again this week. In the last 24 hours, the highest value was 556,000 fans who were ingame at the same time.
So more than 200,000 concurrent fans have returned to Lost Ark since the April update. The new value of around 450,000 to 550,000 players has remained quite stable since this patch. But why is that?
April update was pure fan service
Why with this patch of all things? The big April update has been delayed for a long time and postponed several times. So a certain amount of anticipation built up among the fans in advance, because the content was well chosen.
While an outdated roadmap was initially circulating on the internet, which did not necessarily make the community happy, Smilegate replaced it with a new roadmap. This new content was chosen precisely to satisfy the community.
Among other things, the Arcana class was exchanged for the Lancer. The Lance Master has been an extremely popular class in the community before. Their release in the west should have brought some fans back.
There was also a new continent, South Vern, which continues the main story of Lost Ark. So all fans of the story have once again found a reason to look into the game. There were also quality-of-life updates and a battle pass, which was extremely well received by the fans.
The events are also convincing: In addition, two other events are currently running that will make progress in Lost Ark easier. This includes the Express Event, where you can level up a character up to Gearscore 1,100 a lot easier, as well as a Guardian Raid Event, where there are valuable rewards.
Although both will continue until July, they are already ensuring that many players are returning to Lost Ark and climbing into Tier 3 with new characters or even the real endgame for the first time.
The Feiton Power Pass, which gives players a character of item level 960, is currently being well received by players. So you get two characters that are far advanced in the game, practically free. This takes a lot of grind out of the early days of the MMORPG and could attract new fans.
Even more quality of life
The game is friendlier to its players: Since the strong release, a lot has happened in Lost Ark in terms of “Quality of Life”. So far, numerous comfort functions have been added, such as the possibility of sorting your skills according to use or sharing treasure maps with the entire group.
Another point that many players noticed positively is the expansion of the maximum number of characters on an account from 12 to 18. Since Lost Ark shines with an enormous number of classes, you are now much less limited in your selection.
In addition, since the release in February, many translation errors have now been removed from the game and some quests are now much easier to understand. The skill descriptions are also affected and a counter skill is now also called a counter and no longer a counter.
In general, one can say that Lost Ark has already done a lot for the fact that the game has only been around for about three months. Above all, the big April update has upped the ante and brought many people back to Arkesia or even to Arkesia for the first time.
