CoD 2022 is now officially called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This is what Activision’s first teaser trailer tells us, which at first glance only presents the logo. In this, the “M” and the “W” form a Roman II, but otherwise Modern Warfare 2 is mentioned with an Arabic numeral at the end – so that will be the official title. Particularly exciting: The short clip should contain coordinates that point to a very special setting.

Again, to avoid any confusion: Modern Warfare 2 is not a remake of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 from 2009, but a sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare from 2019. Parallels to the (almost) Titles of the same name are possible, but the team will again have the freedom to introduce any new settings and story twists.

Reference to first location? Insider Tom Henderson wants in the logo animation Discovered coordinates that lead to a real place in Singapore: The Marina Bay Sands Hotel. The eye-catching building can be imagined really well as a setting for a CoD mission, especially since Henderson would like to have seen artwork on which a soldier abseils down from a skyscraper – so that would fit.

Not the only setting: Of course, Modern Warfare 2 will not only play in Singapore, should the coordinates actually apply. Instead, it’s probably going around the world again to fight threats across the globe. According to a previous leak, the focus of the campaign is on Colombia and the drug cartels there.

Otherwise, it has been confirmed that Infinity Ward has taken the lead in developing CoD: Modern Warfare 2. According to Henderson, a total of eleven studios are working on the shooter.

No Xbox Exclusive: It should be mentioned again that Modern Warfare 2 will be released for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. On the one hand, the deal between Activision and Microsoft has not yet been finalized, and on the other hand, there is a contract between Sony and the CoD publisher, which includes three other titles from the franchise.
