Co-op Marriage Drama: It Takes Two is a pure co-op game that you can play in pairs either locally or online. In both cases, most of the action is shown to you in split screen. We play a married couple who want a divorce, but are magically turned into dolls by the tears of their child. In order to get their human bodies back, the two must work together.
An action platform at its core: Despite occasional serious undertones, the game, kept in the colorful style of a Pixar comedy, remains on the light side. Gameplay-wise, it’s essentially an action-platformer with puzzles. However, the mechanics change in each level, since the two main characters always get new skills that have to be combined with each other. In between there are fights against some huge bosses, which can sometimes be more demanding, but not so difficult that you get stuck for a long time.

Genre change and minigames: However, It Takes Two cannot be pinned down to one genre, because in between it likes to throw all its previous game mechanics overboard and temporarily becomes a shooter, a fighting game or a flight simulator, for example. There are also over 20 mini-games ranging from tug-of-war to chess to a Guitar Hero-style music game. So there is plenty of variety in the ten to twelve hours of play.
