Final Fantasy XIV: You can take your friends with you on these 14 mounts - this is how you get them

There are over 200 different mounts in Final Fantasy XIV, and some of them you can ride with your friends. We’ll tell you what they are and how to get them.

Mounts are an integral part of most MMORPGs. They not only make life easier for the players, but are often also considered status symbols. In FFXIV, however, some of them also allow you to take your friends with you.

You can then ride through the world of the MMORPG with your friends, show them new areas or help with quests. The multiplayer mounts are also great for farming treasure maps.

It’s that easy: In order for your fellow players to ride on your mount, they must first join your group. If they then examine your character, the “Tandem Ride” subcommand will appear. This allows them to mount your mount.

Earnable mounts for multiple players

FFXIV’s multiplayer mounts fall into three different categories. The first includes those that you can earn directly in the MMORPG. You don’t have to pay any extra money or meet any other special conditions.

Ikril

How to get the mount: Ikril is available as a reward for the Bozja News achievement, which in turn consists of three other achievements:

  • News from the southern front
  • News from the plateau
  • News from the delubrum

They require you to collect all the frontline reports that exist in the special zones of the Bozja content: Zadnor, on the southern front and to the Delubrum Reginae content. You can check the collected frontline reports in your game content menu under “Oddities”.

Once you have collected all achievements, you can select your mount in the achievements menu.

fun fact: Ikril originally came from FFXII. It was on the “flying bike” that the sky pirate Balthier and his partner Fran infiltrated the palace of Rabanastre to steal the treasure there. There they meet the thief Vaan and become involved in the struggle for power in Ivalice.

Mechamander

ffxiv mounts patch 5

How to get the mount: Lander Weapon is one of the largest mounts in the game and is unlocked through a quest. To activate the quest, you have to go farming first.

You need all mounts from Shadowbringers Extreme Trials. These are:

  • Pixie Gwiber from Final Purge – Titania content
  • Innocent Gwiber from Final Purification – Innocent content
  • Shadow Gwiber from the Final Purge – Hades content
  • Ruby Gwiber from Ruby Fire – Trauma content
  • Gwiber-of-Light from Warrior of Light (Extreme) content
  • Emerald Gwiber from Emerald Storm – Trauma content
  • Diamond Gwiber from Diamond Bolt – Trauma content

All of this content is designed for level 80 and since the release of Endwalker it can be farmed quite comfortably at level 90.

Once you have collected all mounts, the quest called “Dragon of Fire and Iron” will be activated in the “The Fen” area. You can pick them up from the NPC Garlond Modeler (X: 11.5 / Y: 22.5). Complete them and Mechamander is yours.

astrope

How to get the mount: Astrope is also an achievement-linked mount. It’s called “Schützenhilfe VI” and in order to get it you need to successfully complete 2,000 random content for Mentors. However, in order to unlock this random content, you must first become a Battle Mentor.

For this you must meet the following requirements:

  • Successfully complete 1,000 dungeons, raids, or trials.
  • Earned 1,500 Most Valuable Player Awards
  • Completed the level 80 Defender role quest.
  • Completed level 80 healer role quest.
  • Completed level 80 melee or ranged attacker (phys or magic) role quest.

Only then can you enter the mentor random content and start working on the achievement.

Once you have completed all of the content, you can claim your mount from the Achievements menu.

desert glider

How to get the mount: Getting help from friends or guildmates is probably the easiest way to get this mount out of all the others on the list. It is a guaranteed drop from the chest in the Eden’s Rising – Burial (Epic) content.

The fight is designed for level 80. With the release of the Endwalker addon, however, the highest level was raised to 90 and the armor level of the players increased drastically. The content is therefore not as difficult as it used to be and can be farmed conveniently.

cerberus

How to get the mount: Cerberus is a reward for completing the Delubrum Reginae content on Epic difficulty. It is one of the dungeons in the Bozja Southern Front special content, which has special rules. There are specific armors and orders that you can use to super power up your character that only have an effect within Bozja.

Delubrum Reginae is designed for 24 players and the epic version is still crisp even after the level increase. You need a reliable group to create this content.

Once you’ve defeated the content, you’ll receive the Queen Of Epic Blades I achievement and can claim your mount from the Achievements menu.

Regalia Type-G

How to get the mount: The Regalia is a special case among the playable multiplayer mounts. She came to FFXIV as part of the cooperation with FFXV and is the car of Prince Noctis. Unfortunately, that means the Regalia is also only available during the co-op event.

The event keeps coming back, allowing new players to earn the Regalia, but that rarely happens. Accordingly, you currently have to wait until the event returns if you want the fancy car.

But you can already prepare yourself. The Regalia Type-G will become available at Gold Saucer during the event. In the past, you needed 200,000 MGP to buy them. This will probably not change, which is why you can put the necessary “small change” aside for the next event.

special mounts

The second category of multiplayer mounts contains chic steeds, which you cannot buy individually, but which cannot be freely earned either.

Tandem Chocobo and Amber Chocobo

This is how you get the mounts: Both are obtainable through FFXIV’s Invite a Friend promotion, which awards rewards for recruiting new players (all information on the official website). However, the conditions for both mounts are different:

  • You get the tandem chocobo automatically as soon as the invited player has subscribed for 90 days.
  • The amber chocobo requires 8 gold chocobo feathers. You get 5 of them each when the invited person has had an active subscription for 150 days, 210 days and 270 days. The feathers can be exchanged at any lost property manager in the 3 starter cities.

Ceremonial Chocobo

How to get the mount: The fancy chocobo is available as one of the bonus items for the players who want to get married fancy in FFXIV. You get the mount if you choose either the Gold or Platinum plan for the wedding.

  • The Gold plan costs €14 (€7 per person)
  • The Platinum plan costs €28 (€14 per person)

You must therefore first find a partner for this mount, plan the marriage and then go through with it. The advantage is that you can keep all items after the divorce and do not need a lawyer for property distribution.

All information about the Eternal Covenant is there on the official site.
