God of War Ragnarök: Sony will probably hold back its 2022 highlight for a long time

Sony Santa Monica will probably keep Kratos and Atreus under wraps for a while. God of War Ragnarök is still planned for this year, the development studio recently confirmed, but it may be a while before we see any new material for the much-anticipated title.

Insider rubs salt in the wound: The reliable leaker Ashhong confirmed that the waiting time is not over yet resetera. Responding to a fan-made mock-up showing a fictional state of play for God of War Ragnarok on May 27, the insider said, “Too early as far as I know.”

What scenario for God of War Ragnarok is realistic?

The statement does not provide us with much information, but at least it gives us a clue. The fact that the end of May is too early for a State of Play probably means that the insider does not expect a show in honor of the Spartan in June either. But is Sony really throwing out such an important event in the summer? If it doesn’t happen promptly – and it doesn’t look like it at the moment – we will probably have to wait until September with the State of Play.

What does this mean for the release? God of War Ragnarök is not only a sequel, but also the most anticipated game of the year for many. This means Sony can save themselves a long and expensive marketing campaign and push the game in just a few weeks before release. If the big State of Play is actually not held until September, a release of God of War Ragnarök between the end of October and the end of November is still possible.

The fear of postponement is spreading

Understandably, some fans are currently concerned that God of War Ragnarök could still be postponed to 2023. After all, we haven’t heard or seen anything from the title for a while now. And the last few months and years have been characterized by constant shifts, sometimes just a few days before a game is released. So we shouldn’t feel completely safe.
