Managers of acceptance points report on family businesses

Meal.
Mothers report on their experiences in their lottery acceptance point family businesses and how they experience Mother’s Day on May 8th.

There are supposed to be families who meet at best a few times a year on public holidays. And then there are families like the Werners from Frechen and the Großjohanns from Dinslaken. Not only do they spend a lot of their free time together, they spend all of their working hours together. And couldn’t imagine anything better. “I am extremely lucky with my family. For me, almost every day is Mother’s Day,” reports Astrid Werner with a laugh that is contagious.

enthusiasm

She is not expecting presents on the day of honor for mothers on Sunday, May 8th – but is all the more looking forward to drinking coffee with her husband, her son and her mother Gerda Reinartz. It was also the elderly woman who passed on her enthusiasm for working with people and the varied everyday life in a WestLotto acceptance point to her daughter.

Large family

What is it about this work that fascinates you? “I have loyal regular customers and only lovely people around me. It feels like a big family. Every time someone wins a larger amount from me, that makes me happy too,” the 57-year-old continues. The family has been running WestLotto acceptance points in Frechen for over 50 years. “Anyone who manages a collection point bears a lot of responsibility: for the staff, the organization and of course also in financial terms.”

young team

The surprise was all the greater when son Marco announced his career choice after his studies: He also wants to work in the acceptance point! “My first answer was, ‘You can’t do that!’ But of course I’m very happy about it,” Astrid Werner continues. “We have a young and happy team, which also keeps me young. That’s why I’m not thinking about quitting for a long time.” Son Marco has meanwhile added gifts and a balloon shop to the range. His tip for Mother’s Day: a heart-shaped balloon, filled with helium and individually labeled as desired.

stroke of luck

Heike Großjohann has also been providing gaming fun for almost four decades: from 1984 she managed various WestLotto acceptance points in the Ruhr area, since 1999 she has been at home in Dinslaken. “We are a family business through and through – I couldn’t imagine it any other way,” she reports. Husband Hans-Peter Großjohann lends a hand anyway, son Thomas completed his commercial training in his parents’ company and can now look back on more than 20 years of professional experience. “We were really lucky with him,” says the proud mother: “The interaction between the generations has worked very well for us right from the start. We enjoy seeing each other every day – not just once a year on Mother’s Day.”

spotlight

“Mother’s Day on May 8th is a very nice occasion to see each other – but only if it’s honest and the family doesn’t see it as a mandatory event,” Heike Großjohann continues. A common breakfast and many happy hours with three generations at one table are a matter of course for the family. But the mother and grandmother don’t want any special surprises: “My son and my family are the best present for me!”

Good luck to mom

Mother’s Day is a good opportunity to just say thank you and wish mom the best of luck. Not only with flowers, but also with small gifts from WestLotto – scratch cards, lucky tips for LOTTO 6aus49 and Eurojackpot or a yearly ticket from GlücksSpirale. The game receipts can also be provided with the appropriate greeting: “Happy Mother’s Day! And the chance for great luck!”
