The performance of the built-in AMD Ryzen 5 processor is also impressive, flanked by 8 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of SSD storage. Even Zenbook 13 OLED models with an Intel Core i5 or the more powerful AMD Ryzen 7 and up to 16 GB of RAM are often available for less than 1,000 euros. The backlit keyboard and trackpad are among the best in this price range. With two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a card reader and an HDMI out, Asus doesn’t skimp on the ports either. Only the missing headphone jack will bother some users.

The connections also leave nothing to be desired: There is USB-A, USB-C, Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, a card reader and a headphone jack. If you use other Samsung devices such as a smartphone or tablet, you can exchange data with the Galaxy Book2 in no time at all or use the tablet as a wireless second monitor. It is a pity that the manufacturer only installs a 720p webcam.
HP Victus 16: The best gaming laptop under 1,000 euros

The built-in AMD Ryzen 5 processor, 16 GB of RAM and the entry-level Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card with DLSS upscaling technology ensure sufficient power for higher frame rates with little loss of image quality. Unlike most laptops, the Victus offers an Ethernet port for a stable connection in online games in addition to USB-A, USB-C, HDMI and card reader.
MacBook Air (2020): The best MacBook under 1,000 euros

Even if the official RRP is higher, it still exists MacBook Air from 2020 under 1,000 euros. The slim 13.3-inch device scores with its great workmanship and excellent battery life. The very good display also has a very high resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels and uses the 3:2 format, which is practical for texts.
The built-in M1 processor, which unfortunately only has 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of SSD storage, ensures good everyday performance. That’s enough for everyday tasks like office and internet, but if you’re editing videos, you should look for a higher-priced model. With two Thunderbolt 3 and a headphone jack, the equipment with connections is also extremely sparse, so that an adapter is necessary for most peripheral devices. If you prefer to work with macOS instead of Windows, the MacBook Air is still an excellent device.
Huawei Matebook 16: The best 16-inch laptop in the price range

With a display diagonal of 16 inches that is Matebook 16 from Huawei one of the bigger laptops. The official RRP is a bit higher, but the device is often available in stores for less than 1,000 euros. The screen resolution falls with it 2,520 x 1,680 pixels is sharper than most of the competition and the 3:2 aspect ratio offers more space for editing documents.
An AMD Ryzen 7 5800H works in the high-quality aluminum housing, which ensures excellent performance. There is also 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. Connections are USB-A, USB-C, HDMI and jack. A backlit keyboard with a good pressure point and a large touchpad complete the package. Only the 720p webcam doesn’t quite keep up.
HP Envy X360: The best touchscreen notebook under 1,000 euros

The touch screen device HP’s Envy X360 scores with a freely pivoting 13.3-inch screen with Full HD resolution and multi-touch input. In addition, the convertible offers a high-quality aluminum chassis with a very good keyboard.
The Envy X360 is powered by an Intel Core i5, which ensures a brisk working pace in everyday use. Unfortunately, there is only 8 GB of working memory, but at least there is also a 512 GB SSD. In terms of connections, HP offers a jack plug and a microSD card reader in addition to USB-A and USB-C. Unfortunately, like many notebooks in this class, the webcam only has a resolution of 720p.
Acer Aspire 5 A517: The best 17-inch laptop under 1,000 euros

Good notebooks with a 17-inch diagonal for less than 1,000 euros are few and far between. That makes an exception Acer Aspire 5 A517, which convinces in most points. Although the large display only has a Full HD resolution, which is rather small for a size of 17.3 inches, the technology is in a stylish aluminum chassis.
The computing power is handled by an Intel Core i5 with good everyday performance, flanked by 16 GB of RAM. In addition to a 512 GB SSD, the device also has a classic 1 terabyte magnetic hard drive. Unfortunately, the device offers neither Thunderbolt nor an SD card reader, but there is an Ethernet port for high-speed Internet, which most laptops do without. A bonus is the additional number pad on the backlit keyboard.
