Anyone who just started Elden Ring or has already played the FromSoft hit will most likely know this feeling: you are released into the big, wide and unforgiving open world of the in-between, and then? Where should I go, which way is the right one?

In fact, there is no right or wrong in the open world of Elden Ring, only a “heavy” and “less difficult”. In theory, you can go wherever you feel like it. But therein lies the problem for many players. The great freedom of the game can be overwhelming and intimidating. Especially since each area requires a certain character level and some places should therefore be visited in the endgame.

Elden Ring map with all locations/areas in optimal order

This map helps: That’s where thankfully Reddit member HexTheHardcoreCasual comes in (via VG24/7) into the game, which recommends an order on a helpful map for you to explore the various locations and areas of the intermediate land. The order is based on the recommended character level, so it shows the “easiest” way through the game.

Warning, spoilers. Of course, the entire map of Elden Ring is shown.

From the center of Limgrave, according to the map, you should next explore the south, then the east, the north and then the west. From there it’s on to Liurnia, and then to the south of Caelid. In total, you rattle off 35 areas bit by bit. In a separate GamePro guide, we explain the optimal path through the map for you in more detail.
