The Xbox Network has been largely stable in the past, but everything turned out differently on May 6th: Probably due to server problems, the Xbox Network collapsed and caused trouble for many Xbox players. Among other things, it was not possible to start Game Pass games, and purchases could no longer be processed. Error messages can occasionally still appear.

  • Issues with subscriptions including Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Live Gold, and more
  • Trouble launching Xbox Cloud Gaming sessions from any device
  • Problems launching and playing digital games, especially titles that are part of a subscription service like Xbox Game Pass

Microsoft’s support page is now writing on Twitter that the problems have been fixed. Also on the official status page all ticks are now green.

Occasional error messages: However, the comments below the tweet indicate that some people are still struggling to launch and play games from Game Pass.

“It’s still not working. I’ve been trying to start State of Decay 2 since you wrote that everything is working again,” writes Twitter user @alexotaz, for example. “I still can’t play games on my Xbox,” says @zaczillac1988. The latest tweet from Xbox Support also includes calls for a refund for lost Xbox Game Pass time.
