This fake PS5 costs €20, has 200 games and is so crazy that I really want it

Is it a PS5? No not really.

Is it a PS5? No not really.

Is it a PS5? No not really.

The PlayStation 5 is still pretty darn hard to come by – or is it really? On the Chinese Marketplace page AliExpress you can easily get a PlayS… no wait, a GameStation 5. But you can forgive the confusion, after all, the console, which costs just 17.55 euros, looks confusingly similar to the one from Sony at first glance. You could almost say it’s a real bargain, but the similarities almost end with the optics.

Fake PS5 in practical size

The offered GameStation 5 looks quite similar to a PS5 with its white side plates, the black center stripe and even the stand, but has a height of just 17cm. Especially compared to the included wired controllers (which have little in common with the DualSense, but look suspiciously like the PS1 controllers), it just looks tiny:

Suspiciously cheap for a supposed console, but with good reason. (Source: https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005003406834911.html)

Packaging

200 included games: Here at the latest it becomes clear that the GameStation 5 definitely does not deliver the power of the PS5, but you should actually be able to gamble on the console, because it contains a total of 200 “retro games”. It’s hard to say what those are, because if you want a game list, you have to email the seller.

However, there are some pictures of supposed buyers in the reviews that indicate that such classics as Super Mario Bros. 2 and Angry Birds – or at least a knock-off variant of it. Of course, real PS5 games cannot be played on the console.

More PlayStation news:

More decoration than anything else

And the connection could also be a little more difficult for one or the other person. Because like a real retro console, the GameStation 5 is not connected to the television via HDMI, but via AV – like the PS2 recently.

Of course, this is clearly not an official Sony device, but the console still looks a bit cute.

Elen Reinke

I want to be honest, I would have to check whether my TV still has an AV connection, which I used on my mother’s old tube TV.
But the fake PS5 interests me less because I actually want to gamble with it, but much more because it just looks a bit cute – especially next to my bulky PS5 with its almost 40cm height. Then I would finally have a PlayStation(esque) console that actually fits in my TV cabinet, that would be something.
