PC cheater breaks crossplay limits in Apex Legends – destroys entire lobbies on PS5
In recent years, crossplay between the platforms has almost become the standard and the big shooters in particular are pioneers in this area. However, console players often disable crossplay for fear of PC cheaters. In Apex Legends, that’s less and less useful.
Crossplay connects players on the different platforms and thus ensures a larger player base that participates in the match search together. Sony resisted the feature for a long time and didn’t want crossplay on PS4 and PS5.
But crossplay prevailed and big shooters like Call of Duty, Apex: Legends and Battlefield rely on joint platform games. Not without problems when balancing the input devices.
But not only the balancing between mouse/keyboard and controller is such a thing – cheaters on the PC are also a problem. It’s even going so far that lobbies that actually only allow console players are being infiltrated by PC cheaters. They destroy entire lobbies with their lousy cheating.
We embed the trailer for the latest legend in Apex here:
PC cheater takes over console lobby – “Bro, what is this?”
The Apex community has had stories about PC cheaters in console lobbies for a while. But for the first time there is also a recording of a well-known Apex player who encounters a crossplay cheat in one of his streams.
The player “Revengeful” posted part of the video on Twitter. He’s on a PS5. You can see more of the match on his YouTube channel (via youtube.com).
The cheater goes all out in the match and uses their superiority to crush everyone in the lobby. Any players who even come near him take a full broadside no-scope in the face.
The mood in the video on Twitter also shows how rare such encounters have been on the console so far. A player with a French accent laughs his head off at the cheat moves like he’s never seen anything like it before.
However, those responsible at Apex Legends also prove that they have an eye on cheaters. Even in the match of “Revengeful”, the cheat receives a ban and is suddenly gone:
Crossplay is a great idea, but in practice it can cause problems. The cheater problem in particular keeps players from allowing players from the PC, but the different foreskin tongues in the controls also cause discussions.
Apex is not the only one struggling with these problems. Crossplay isn’t always fun with Call of Duty either: CoD Warzone: Crossplay is just annoying – and that’s not because of cheaters
