FIFA 22 annoys players with lousy compensation for the most important weekend league of the year

The past Weekend League ended earlier than expected. FIFA 22 is now distributing compensation – but from the point of view of many players, this is not enough.

What is the problem? The times of the Weekend League have been adjusted for the current “Team of the Season” event. Instead of Friday to Monday morning, the Weekend League now runs from Friday 9:00 p.m. to Wednesday 9:00 a.m. At least that’s what it was originally announced.

But the last weekend league ended 24 hours early. This was displayed in the game via a countdown timer, but anyone who had relied on the original announcement and logged in on Tuesday evening, for example, to tear off a few more games, looked in the tube.

EA Sports also confirmed via Twitter that this was an error.

As compensation, the following has now been considered:

  • Players who qualified for the last FUT Champions Finals will be credited with 1,500 FUT Champions Qualification Points for the next week.
  • In addition, a Seasonal Objective containing an untradeable Prime Gold Player Pack and 3000 XP will be released early next week.

But the response to this announcement is mostly negative. Because players obviously expected a little more here.

Ironically, the Premier League weekend comes with errors

What players criticize: Both in the FIFA subreddit and in the Twitter comments, the compensation is criticized as insufficient. The main reason: Last weekend you could earn the Premier League TOTS players as part of the player picks.

Premier League cards are traditionally the most popular in Ultimate Team, and the TOTS cards are particularly strong. At the same time, they’re damn expensive and hard to get in packs. Accordingly, the Weekend League is one of the best ways to get these cards – for some, this Weekend League is the most important of the FIFA year.

Just getting qualifying points and a 45,000 coin pack isn’t enough for many. This is what some write on Twitter:

  • “So… you guys are giving people an average pack to play for to make up for the loss of the good packs instead of just giving them free packs,” commented one (via Twitter).
  • “It can’t be that this is the compensation you give to people who missed the PL Reds. Shameful!” (via Twitter)
  • Another user says up Twitter: “Wouldn’t it have been easier to compensate those who didn’t manage to complete their 20 games? That seems like an odd practice.”

There is also similar criticism on reddit: “This issue did not affect me as I play WL on Saturdays, but this compensation is a joke for those who were affected,” writes user gobaldygooch (via reddit). And he continued, “I understand it’s probably hard for EA to figure out exactly who was affected, but this compensation is awful.”

He says the qualifying points are of little use, just like the XP: “So you only have a 45k pack that you only get when there are no more packs for Prem-TOTS. At the same time, there will be some people who completely missed red picks of the Prem-TOTS worth hundreds of thousands of coins (non-tradeable).”

Overall, some players expected a better equalizer here. On May 13th, the Premier League TOTS will be replaced in FIFA 22 and you can no longer pull it out of the packs for the time being. From 19:00 the Bundesliga TOTS will appear in Ultimate Team instead.
