Nerd uses IT magic to determine which classes the raid guilds in WoW are looking for the most

The choice of class and specialization in WoW: Shadowlands largely determines how the game feels. Some prefer melee, others more range. But there are also players who like to adapt to demand – and a nerd on reddit has now created the perfect data basis for them.

A user on reddit wants to restart his guild with a few friends before the new World of Warcraft add-on. You want to try out new classes – but which ones to take?

The user is called “ItsACrunchyNut”, describes himself as a nerd and likes to choose his class according to what is needed at the moment. The WoW tool helps him to find out the demand wowprogress. On the page, guilds can manually enter which class they are currently looking for.

The proud nerd says he could have just searched a few guilds and seen what they were looking for by asking – “But I’m a nerd. Why make something simple when it can be complicated?”.

Together with a nerd colleague, “ItsACrunchyNut” conjured up some IT magic and wrote a program to evaluate the demand from around 4,000 guilds that have already defeated the last boss in the raid (success: AoTC).

We present the magical results to you on MeinMMO.

The most sought-after PvE classes and specializations in patch 9.2

“ItsACrunchyNut” not only has an eye on the classes in its evaluation, but also on the roles and specializations (status: 10.05.22 / via reddit.com). The numbers are user estimates:

  • Most Wanted Roles
    • Range DPS: 20,100
    • Melee DPS: 12,800
    • Reach Healer: 5,200
    • Melee Healers: 3,900
    • Tanks: 2,400
  • Most Popular Classes
    • Druid: 6,100
    • Priests: 5,100
    • Shaman: 2,600
  • Most requested specializations
    • Balance Druids: 3,900
    • All Warlocks: 3,600
    • Shadow Priests: 2,600

“ItsACrunchyNut” has also created a graphic for an overview of all classes, divided into classes and roles:

How did the data come about? Guilds can enter their need for players on “wowprogress” and indicate how strong the demand is – high, medium, low. The user required 4 players for a “high”, 2 for “medium” and 1 for “low”.

As a result, “ItsACrunchyNut” has created a numerical data basis that can be displayed in a diagram.

Its evaluation is therefore based on estimates and is not very precise. But the chosen method is well suited for mapping the class and role requirements of over 4,000 guilds.

The nerd uses his IT magic to create exciting results that actually help with class choice – if you like to look at the needs and adapt.

If you are absolutely not sure which classes you should tackle with which specialization, such mathematical approaches are often helpful.

Another approach is to look at the damage numbers of the individual specs. We also have something suitable for you: WoW DPS ranking for Shadowlands – These classes do the most damage
