The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story (Adventure) von Square Enix

Crime with real actors. From Square Enix. For PC, PS4, PS5 plus Switch. And already available. We tell you what the game has to do with Metal Gear Solid and NieR: Automata.

Square Enix reports: “The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story is available now on PS4, PS5, Switch and PC. The game is directed by Koichiro Ito (Metal Gear Solid 5) and produced and rotated by Junichi Ehara (NieR: Automata). the tragedy of the Shijima family, who have suffered a series of unexplained deaths over a century.”

That doesn’t sound bad, and when you look at the trailer (see below) you realize that this is a game with real scenes from the movie. “Live action” called new German, earlier we gamers would probably have called it FMV. According to the video, the interactive detective thriller is all about “life’s answers that lie in the mysteries of death.” And of course the 100-year-old mystery of the Shijima murders, which we, in the person of crime writer Haruka Kagami, are supposed to solve. If necessary, probably by means of time travel or other gimmicks.

According to Square Enix, Yasuhito Tachibana, producer of “The Naked Director” (Netflix), is responsible for camera work and also fills the role of scenario director. Actress Nanami Sakuraba plays the protagonist Haruka Kagami, while Yuta Hiraoka plays Eiji Shijima, the second son of the Shijima family.
