Dragon Age: Cool Fan Remaster makes the first part shine again
The games in the Dragon Age series now look back on a fairly long history, although they are more likely to be classified as new RPGs. The release of Dragon Age: Origins, the first part, is now twelve years ago! As the spiritual successor to Baldur’s Gate, the Bioware RPG relies on dark fantasy fare, exciting group gameplay with challenging battles in a richly designed world. The latter has now gathered a lot of dust, which is why fans always want a remastered version, like the ones Mass Effect got. But according to a clarification from the developers, such wishes will probably not come true. But that doesn’t stop diligent fans, of course…

Dragon Age: Fan is making a remastered version of Origins
Via the well-known modding platform Nexusmods do you get the mod “Dragon Age Origins Unofficial Remaster”. But what exactly does this remaster version contain? Dalishious, who worked with other modders on this, explains it on the mod page: The goal is to make Origins look less dated while still retaining the style and feel of the game. Accordingly, it is mainly about higher textures, some of which are AI results, but also designed by hand. Some textures and objects are even straight out of the Dragon Age sequels. By the way, Awakening, the expansion of Origins, as well as the DLCS are compatible with these adjustments – the Ultimate Edition is the basis for the mod.
Gift tips for Dragon Age fans: The lovingly designed lore compendium World of Thedas with pictures or a 5-in-1 novel package!

So that’s what’s in the remaster mod for DA: Origins
- Higher resolution textures
- Higher resolution models
- More vibrant hues for characters’ skin, hair, and eyes, as well as some basic additions
- Some replacements for cutscenes with more cinematic feel
- New presets and character creation options
- Slightly adjusted head shapes for some NPCs – “still recognizable, but less silly.”

To install the mod, you need the additional program Large Address Awarewhich is generally for Dragon Age: Origins players (buy now €17.88) worth it, even without mods. But “Dragon Age Origins Unofficial Remaster” requires LAA. But don’t worry, you can also find out all of this in the installation instructions on the Dalishious mod page. Can you imagine playing the first part of Dragon Age again or even for the first time? Or is the general gameplay just too outdated for you? Tell us in the comments!
