WoW Classic: Service for TBC clones will be shut down soon
If you want to play a specific character in both WoW Classic and The Burning Crusade Classic, you can use a special clone service. However, Blizzardd wants to shut down this service soon. We’ll tell you what you need to know now.
A new era will soon begin in WoW Classic: Wrath of the Lich King Classic is expected to enter the beta phase in a few weeks. Accordingly, the developers have announced that the service for cloning characters in The Burning Crusade will soon be shut down. Until then, you can use the service again with a huge discount.
Cloning service now 66 percent cheaper
The character clone service previously allowed you to create a clone of one of your characters. This clone then corresponded to the state of the respective character just before the Burning Crusade Classic pre-patch on May 18, 2021. You could use the clone on a TBC or a WoW Classic server. For a fee, you could also double-clone your character to play with the same hero in TBC and WoW Classic at the same time (buy now ) to keep playing.
However, according to Blizzard, this service will be discontinued on July 26, 2022 – which is certainly related to the upcoming WotLK beta. Characters that you have not yet decided whether to continue playing in WoW Classic or TBC will be automatically carried over to The Burning Crusade Classic. The Classic version of your character will then expire and cannot be restored.
If you want to play a specific character in both TBC and WoW Classic, you currently get a 66 percent discount for the clone service. This reduced price is valid until the service is switched off on July 26, 2022. Whether Blizzard will make a similar service available for WotLK at a later date is currently still open.
