Portal: Demake runs on "real N64 hardware"

Portal is coming to a Nintendo console. But not just the ones you expect.

lambertjamesd” is currently working on a demake of Portal called Portal 64, intended to run on real N64 hardware.

A little insight

In a new video, lambertjamesd shows his project, demonstrates the Portal Gun and the Portal.

According to him, it runs on real N64 hardware and you can create up to six portals at the same time.

“Portal on real N64 hardware,” it says. “In this update I’ve got the Portal Gun working with recursive portal rendering. I’ve also made some major advances on the game engine behind the scenes.”

In the past, lambertjamesd has created other Nintendo-inspired things, such as a Game Boy emulator that runs on real hardware.

If you want to play Portal on the Switch, you’ll have to be patient. Sometime this year, Portal: Companion Collection will be released with Portal and Portal 2.
