Among the Trolls: folklore-themed survival title announced – News

505 Games has in-house Spring Showcase the survival game Among the Trolls announced by Finnish developer Forbidden Studios. A technical specialty of the game developed in Unity: Co-Founder and Chief Technical Officer of Forbidden Studios is Veli Kokkonen, who helped create the Unity engine. There is also quite a bit of Unity expertise in the studio.

In terms of content, the title is characterized by its strong connection to Finnish sagas. Your male or female character goes to Finland after the death of their parents to visit their grandparents. But when you take a rowing boat across a lake to your grandparents’ hut, night falls and suddenly a monster pulls you down. You wake up in an unknown forest. The title Among the Trolls refers to an old saying that there is another world besides ours, the world of trolls and other supernatural forest dwellers.

The folkloric aspect also runs through the gameplay. Although building your own base also plays a major role in Among the Trolls, you will annoy the spirits of the forest if you do not offer them gifts at the appropriate altars before you cut down trees, for example. If you anger the spirits, the forest will become darker and more dangerous. You can also craft friendly spirit helpers. But friends can also explore the mythical forest with you.

Among the Trolls will enter Early Access in 2022.
