Doing only the main story in Elden Ring: So much content is left behind

If you only do the most important things in Elden Ring, a lot of content will fall by the wayside, because the main story does not cover all parts of the open world by a long shot. A player shows how much lost content we are talking about.

The shortest path is not always the best

Not only the size of the intermediate land is impressive, but also the variety of content in it. Players will enjoy the many fascinating corners of the world and the many quests and enemies that only become apparent as you explore.

However, if a player strictly follows the main story, there is not much room for exciting discoveries. A Reddit user shows how much space the main story covers on the map of the intermediate lands:

You only see a narrow tube and several grayed-out areas. So the main storyline is just a tiny part of the whole world.

Other Elden Ring news:

There is even a discussion on Reddit about leaving out even more locations during the main story.

The website Howlongtobeat gives a good rough insight into the season with and without side content.

The main story alone accounts for around 50 hours of play. If you do a few more side quests, it’s already 90 hours. According to the website, if you really want to see everything, you need 120 hours.

If you want to create the last boss from Elden Ring, you can hardly avoid looking around the world to get a little stronger anyway.
