What is the Uhtred saga about?
The British historical action series “The Last Kingdom” is based on the Uhtred saga by Bernard Cornwell, which follows the adventures of the Anglo-Saxon nobleman Uhtred von Bebbanburg (played by Alexander Dreymond) in the 9th century England told. While the main character itself is rather fictional, the plot still tells of the Viking conquest of England – like the hit series Vikings and the sequel series Viking’s Valhalla.

The story begins when, at the beginning of the 9th century, Vikings came across the sea from the north in their boats and invaded, plundered and conquered the kingdoms of England.
The young Englishman Uhtred becomes as a child of the Viking King Ragnar kidnapped and grows up as one of their own. When he grows up, his foster father Ragnar is betrayed and murdered by his own people.
Uhtred manages to escape and joins Alfred the Great, King of Wessex, and his forces in the Battle against the Vikings at. Mindful of his own advantage, Uhtred supports the English in his quest to become Nobleman of Bebbanburg. For this he turns against his former friends and acquaintances.
When is The Last Kingdom season 6 coming?
Stephen Butchard’s acclaimed Netflix series has been airing since 2015 five seasons shown on the streaming service. At the start of the latest season, however, it was already clear in advance that the last season will be – much to the chagrin of the many fans, after all, there are other books in the Uhtred saga after Bernard Cornwell.
