Zelda: Link’s Awakening got a Switch remake, which in turn was the inspiration for Myplaced.
The makers of Myplaced obviously took inspiration from Zelda: Link’s Awakening on the Nintendo Switch. And so much so that their game looks confusingly similar to the original. This includes both the look and the story, menus, items and many, many gameplay elements. Accordingly, many Zelda fans, who directly accuse the game of being a plagiarism and brazenly stealing from Zelda: Link’s Awakening, react with amusement to horror.

That’s what it’s about: In Myplaced (not to be confused with Myspace!) you land as a hero in an unknown world that is threatened by dark forces. Of course you set out to put a stop to the disaster and collect all sorts of useful gadgets along the way. According to the developers, this is a Metroidvania, but once you’ve seen the game in action, you’ll instantly recognize it as the Zelda: Link’s Awakening Remake.
As part of IGN’s Rogue Jam competition, Myplaced was introduced in more detail and accordingly found a larger audience. Here you can watch a preview video of the game and willy-nilly will also come to the conclusion that Myplaced looks almost exactly like the Link’s Awakening remake:

The reactions to Myplaced are very different. While some Zelda fans just can’t seem to get enough and look forward to more similar games, some fret about the obvious and brazen clone. Many even suspect that this is a real one plagiarism with many simply stolen assets could be. Nintendo could even take legal action against it.

The good news: Myplaced will be released for PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. So for those who haven’t been able to enjoy Zelda: Link’s Awakening due to lack of a Switch, now is their chance to play the next best game in this regard. Otherwise we can maybe just do it for you tunic or Death’s Door if you’re looking for a little more innovation and originality.
