Rumor: GTA 6 will be released 13 (!) years after the last part

The release of GTA 6 may be in the even more distant future than expected.

Until GTA 6 appears, a lot of water will probably still flow down the Ganges. Exactly how much has been bothering fans for quite a while. According to a new rumor, there could even be a full 13 years between the initial release of GTA 5 and GTA 6. GTA 5 was released for the first time in 2013 and we still have to wait maybe four years for the successor.

That’s what it’s about: We now know that Rockstar Games developer studio is working on GTA 6. That was finally officially confirmed not too long ago, but even before that everyone assumed that there had to be a new part. The only question that remains is how long it will take until the release.

When is GTA 6 coming? Possibly even later than previously feared. The latest rumors assume that we may even have to wait until 2026. That would overshadow even the darkest forecasts of a possible release in 2025, which had already caused great displeasure among fans:

Where is the date from? The idea emerges from Rockstar publisher Take-Two’s financial report. This revolves around planned releases and covers a period up to the fiscal year 2024 (April 2023 to the end of March 2024). However, there is no trace of GTA 6 in it. It could be added later, but loud DualShockers it seems more likely that GTA 6 will not appear until 2025, but even until 2026.

Huge gap to the predecessor: The time frame would fit the previous rumors about a turbulent development of GTA 6. Rockstar games are also getting bigger and more complex, and are taking longer to develop accordingly. While there were still one to two years between the first GTA games, there were already five years between GTA 4 and GTA 5. There was also five years between GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, but the development is said to have taken more than eight years.

If we assume roughly the same period of time for GTA 6 and add a little more, 2026 doesn’t seem so unlikely anymore – even if there would be a proud 13 years between the initial release of GTA 5 and GTA 6. But we shouldn’t forget that other Rockstar games have also arrived in the meantime and GTA 5 has even been reissued several times and released for subsequent generations of consoles and the PC.
