Star Wars: Andor is coming to Disney+ sooner than you think

After Obi-Wan Kenobi, the next Star Wars series on Disney+ is not long in coming.

A new report by Vanity Fair According to it, Andor will continue in the summer of 2022.

Exact timeframe still unclear

A more concrete time frame for the premiere of Andor has not yet been set, at least it is not publicly known yet.

The series focuses on the character Cassian Andor from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and tells his backstory.

Diego Luna slips back into his role as Cassian Andor, the show is about the “journey of a migrant”.

More on the subject:

“This feeling of moving to have to, is behind this story, very profound and very strong,” he says. “It shapes you as a person. It defines you and what you’re willing to do in so many ways.”

Rogue One writer Tony Gilroy is also back on board for the series. As he states, the first season is about learning more about Cassian. And what made him the person he is in Rogue One.

“It’s that he’s not really revolutionary, he’s cynical and lost and kind of confused,” says Gilroy.

At the beginning he has to flee his homeland, which doesn’t improve the situation: “His adopted country becomes the starting point for the entire first season. We see how this place is radicalized. Then we see another planet that is completely colonial in a way being taken apart. The Empire is expanding rapidly. They are wiping out anyone who stands in their way.”
