Activision Blizzard: Acquisition is progressing quickly says Microsoft

According to Microsoft, the process of acquiring Activision Blizzard is progressing rapidly.

In January of this year, Microsoft announced its intention to acquire Activision Blizzard for around $69 billion.

Since then, an intensive and lengthy examination has been carried out by the various authorities in the USA and also in the EU and Great Britain.

Microsoft President Brad Smith spoke to Belgian business magazine L’Echo about the process. As a result, there have been inquiries from the EU and UK competition authorities and they are providing the necessary information.

Smith also said things are moving fast given such a large acquisition. You are at the beginning of the middle, but there are still many questions to be answered.

“It’s going fast, at least fast enough for an acquisition of this magnitude. We have received inquiries on this subject here in Brussels, but also in London and Washington. We answer questions, give briefings and provide the requested information.”

“One of our attorneys summed it up when he said, ‘We’re coming to the end of the beginning and now to the beginning of the middle.'”

“It’s a lengthy process and we’re still at the stage where we have to answer questions. For us, of course, the quicker it’s done, the better, but we’ll respect the process.”

Microsoft expects to complete the acquisition by mid-2023.
