“5 horses per stable, 120 shrines or more, Expansion Pass available” – This is important information for every Zelda BotW fan. A 9-year-old child took them from a YouTube video and put them together in their own guide. This commitment is really cute. A parent eventually shared a photo of the notes.

This is what the guide looks like

It’s all about this: User mxzebrax shows the guide in a Reddit post. It is handwritten and bears the simple heading “Notes”. Below are individual bullet points with lots of useful information. And that doesn’t just include basic information like the ones already mentioned. For example, one point is:

Use bomb in the air, swap bomb quickly, then use other bomb quickly to get to far away places.

Authentic and cute: The writing that criss-crosses a bit, some spelling mistakes and that combined with the ambition the kid put into the notes makes it so endearing. On Reddit, we only see one page, but with the instruction “turn the page” at the bottom, the 9-year-old fan makes it clear that that’s not all.

The parent who shared the picture is reminded of the past:

Reminds me of copying notes from a guide when I was a kid in the store.

More from the Zelda Universe:

Nostalgia: In the days before YouTube and online magazines, tips and guides for games weren’t as readily available as they are now. Those who got stuck had to talk to friends, buy print magazines and solution books, or just copy them in the shop.

Here’s the first gameplay trailer for BotW 2:

Speedrunners still use their self-written notes for new routes. So who knows what this well-organized kid will do later: runs? Or maybe write guides for a magazine? In any case, the post shows that BotW is a great family game that is dear to young and old.

How do you like the guide? How did you help yourselves back then when you were stuck in games?
