God of War Ragnarok gets tons of customization options that go beyond difficulty levels.

God of War 2: Ragnarok finally gives a sign of life. Although there is no new gameplay to see yet, developer Sony Santa Monica has now presented some of the accessibility options. They not only ensure that you can customize your game the way you want it, but also make it even more accessible than its predecessor.

Difficulty levels, bigger subtitles and more in GoW Ragnarok

God of War already has a selection of accessibility options, now the sequel goes one better: Ragnarök should offer you over 60 options for customizing your gaming experience. Sony now has this in a new one blog entry presented and thus shows that the criticisms of the predecessor are also addressed.

These customization options await you:

  • Difficulties and more from God of War: All accessibility options that were already available in the 2018 reboot are also included in the new part and some have been improved.
  • Auto Sprint and Persistent Crosshair: With this you can sprint permanently, or sprint by pressing the control stick forward for a short time and permanently switching on the crosshairs. Here you can also set the size and color of the point.
  • Hold or toggle keys: Here you can set whether you want to press or hold the button to target or block.
  • Subtitle: One criticism of GoW’s accessibility options was the legibility of the subtitles. This should be improved in the sequel. This increases the maximum size of symbols and text and expands the text area. In addition, names, text and captions can be colored in different colors and the text background can be darkened or blurred. There are now subtitles and direction indicators for important sounds to help with solving puzzles, for example.
  • Key assignment: In addition to a large selection of preset layouts, you should also be able to set the button assignment of the controller individually. Actions that require more than one button can be linked to the touchpad, among other things.
  • Visual Contrast: The high-contrast mode lets you assign a color to important objects such as enemies, which clearly sets them apart from the background or desaturates the background. You can either turn on the mode permanently or activate it with a swipe.

  • Navigation aid: This feature allows you to automatically turn towards your story objective with the push of a button (out of combat).
  • Movement Aid: Kratos can automatically jump, climb, and overcome obstacles depending on which direction you push.
  • Audio Notes: This feature plays an audible alert when an interaction icon is nearby and when you can operate it. You can also turn on the signals for aiming or changing waffles.

Apart from that, there should be other customization options, which help you with fights or puzzles or let you collect items automatically. Of course, these are already great and useful improvements that not only make the game more accessible for people with visual or hearing impairments, but also allow you to customize God of War according to your play style.

Of course, we can only test how inclusive the options are at the end when we hold the game in our hands. Until then, we’ll have to content ourselves with the reveal trailer:

More on God of War Ragnarok:

New GoW information already in June?

So far, Sony has kept a low profile when God of War Ragnarök will finally appear. We don’t have to hope for new information soon either, at least in May it won’t be any more. According to Cory Barlog, this is not least due to the fact that the team is a perfectionist – if we get to see anything of the game, then probably only when it’s really almost finished.

But new information is not entirely out of the question either: According to rumors, Sony is supposed to hold a big State of Play in early June and that would of course be the perfect moment to show God of War Ragnarök.

What do you think, are you still missing customization options for God of War: Ragnarok?
