Hitman 3: Raytracing, DLSS and FSR come with Patch 3.110

from Oliver Jaeger
Developer IO Interactive announced that with the upcoming patch 3.110, Hitman 3 will benefit from ray-traced reflections and the adaptive supersampling technologies DLSS from Nvidia and FSR from AMD. IO Interactive issues recommendations for the settings in this regard.

Patch 3.110 for Hitman 3 from IO Interactive is to be rolled out next Tuesday. This is a special update because it brings real-time ray tracing to the game and support for Nvidia’s DLSS and AMD’s FSR. With ray tracing, higher quality reflections and shadows are coming to Hitman 3, promises IO Interactive.

Technical background and requirements

As the developers note, ray tracing in Hitman 3’s detailed environments is quite demanding for a graphics card. Therefore, choosing the right graphics quality settings that match the GPU being used is of paramount importance. Reflection quality options appear when ray tracing is enabled. IO Interactive recommends choosing a lower or medium reflection quality for low-end hardware. This improves Hitman 3’s performance, but the reflections consequently have less detail.

The activation of DLSS or FSR is also important when using ray tracing, as this results in a smoother and better experience. Below are IO Interactive’s minimum and recommended hardware requirements and settings for adaptive supersampling and ray tracing.

Minimum hardware requirements:

  • GPU: Geforce RTX 2060 Super or Radeon RX 6600 XT
  • CPU: Core i5-10600K or Ryzen 5 5600X
  • RAM: 8GB

Recommended settings:

  • Resolution: 1080p
  • Adaptive Supersampling Quality > Performance
  • Reflection Quality: Medium

Recommended settings:

  • Resolution: 1440p
  • Adaptive Supersampling Quality: Balanced
  • Reflection Quality: High

Additional requirements:

  • Geforce Game Ready Driver 512.59 for Nvidia GPUs
  • Radeon Software Adrenalin 22.5.3 for AMD GPUs
  • Windows 10 version 21H1 or newer

hit man 3 should also receive support for VR and Intel’s supersampling technology XeSS. This will probably happen later this summer, since that’s when the first games that support Intel’s XeSS will appear at the earliest. A roguelike-inspired Freelancer mode is also slated for release in the second half of 2022.
