5 games like Diablo Immortal you can play on your phone right now

With Diablo Immortal, a hack’n’slay for mobile devices will be released in June, which some players are already looking forward to. However, if you don’t want to wait until the release, you can already play good titles on Android and iOS. We’ll tell you which are the 5 best alternatives.

What is this list about? We would like to introduce you to alternatives to Diablo Immortal that you can play now or switch to if Blizzard’s latest game doesn’t convince you in the end or if Pay2Win puts you off.

MeinMMO editor Alexander Leitsch searched for the best alternatives and primarily looked at the reviews in the Play and App Store as well as positive tests on the games. The focus is primarily on the Hack’n’Slay component. If you are looking for more mobile MMORPGs, you will find them in this list:

The 9 Best Mobile MMORPGs of 2022 for iOS and Android

eternity

What kind of game is this? Eternium is a hack’n’slash with a little more colorful, cartoonish graphics that was released in 2014. It originally came out for Android and iOS, but now also has a PC version on Steam.

The focus is on grinding and collecting loot. You can choose from one of three classes – mage, warrior or mercenary. Each of these classes offers around 20 skills. With your character you can then explore the game world, run dungeons and even participate in PvP content. There is a max level and then a champion level, of which you can reach an endless number.

The special thing about the game is the controls. For many action attacks or spells, you have to trace certain shapes, such as a Z or V on the screen. You can also use the healing potion by painting the “less than” sign. This gives Eternium a special flair on mobile devices.

The Hack’n’Slay advertises that it is Free2Play and does not offer Pay2Win in the shop. This is confirmed by many in the reviews. However, there should be payment options that can be used to bypass timers, for example when upgrading skills. This requires waiting times of up to 48 hours in Eternium.

How is it rated?

  • in the playstore Eternium gets an impressive 4.8 stars out of 5. A total of 2.5 million ratings were made.
  • in the AppStore there are also 4.8 stars, with just over 7,000 ratings being given here.
  • The PC version, released in October 2021, is getting on Steam at least 81% positive reviews. There is criticism here for the waiting times when upgrading, the weak graphics, the mobile feeling and problems with PvP, which should not exist in the mobile version.

Eternium also lets you play offline in single player, but an internet connection is required for multiplayer and PvP.

Titan Quest: Legendary Edition

What kind of game is this? Titan Quest is a well-known series of games that you can also play on Android and iOS in the Legendary Edition. It takes place in the world of Greek mythology and is thus significantly different from the setting in Diablo Immortal. But the story in particular gets a lot of praise in the ratings.

You don’t choose a special class with your character, but you have access to two skill trees. You can combine these as you wish or just focus on one. Otherwise, Titan Quest offers the usual content of an action RPG, including looting, leveling and equipment upgrades.

However, it completely dispenses with a shop and microtransactions. In return, you have to pay a one-time fee of 19.99 euros to get access to the Legendary Edition and thus all DLCs, skills and areas.

The game has received criticism for being a bit cumbersome on mobile devices for looting and inventory management, which seems a bit bizarre as this is a core element of the game. In addition, there should be FPS drops on weak devices or in certain locations.

Titan Quest can be played on the smartphone completely without an internet connection.

Raziel: Dungeon Arena

What kind of game is this? Raziel was released on September 22, 2020 and was already considered a precursor to Diablo Immortal. The 5 classes in the game are very similar to those in Diablo Immortal and there are also many similarities in terms of gameplay.

There is a story campaign that you can do entirely in single player. You can then complete dungeons in co-op with friends or strangers or even complete large raids. The classes are designed to complement each other perfectly, creating unique combos and strategies.

Raziel is said to offer many mechanics, level-ups and a lot of variance in equipment, but only poorly explain this content in the tutorial.

There is also criticism that you need diamonds for upgrades in the endgame, which you can also buy, as well as the language, because there is no German localization.

  • in the playstore Raziel: Dungeon Arena got 4.4 stars out of 5 so far. There were almost 55,000 reviews in total.
  • in the AppStore it received 1,000 reviews, averaging 4.6 stars.

The single player campaign can be played offline, but an internet connection is required for the dungeons and raids.

Blade Bound

What kind of game is this? Bladebound is a classic hack’n’slay that doesn’t offer any special innovations. The graphics are rather weak despite the slight cartoon style and the game does not set high standards in terms of story either. Nevertheless, it is rated very positively.

You initially choose a character, and there are no fixed classes. Instead, you can create your own playstyle from dozens of skills.

In the endgame you can choose from various activities in a menu, including dungeons, boss arenas, monster hunts, PvP or the story content. There are also event dungeons that are only available at certain times.

There is criticism for the shop, which according to some reviews should become mandatory in the endgame – for example to buy energy for certain content. There are also loot boxes to get powerful equipment. Not everyone likes the auto-grind mode either.

Grimvalor

What kind of game is this? Grimvalor is very different from Diablo Immortal, but is considered one of the best games in ARPG circles, which is why we wanted to include it in the list. You play a character in a platformer where you can walk left and right and also jump or dodge.

You explore different areas with your character and fight opponents in order to get better loot and better equipment. She follows a story. Once played through, it offers New Game+, i.e. the option to play through the game again with the experience gained.

Grimvalor costs nothing and does not offer a shop. You will often see ads for this. For a one-off fee of EUR 6.99 you can permanently hide the advertising.

Honorable Mention: Path of Exile Mobile

What kind of game is this? Path of Exile announced a mobile version in 2019. The game is being developed in-house by Grinding Gear Games and is said to contain “no bullshit”. Basically it should be like Path of Exile, just for Android and iOS.

However, nothing has been heard from the game for a long time. It is currently unclear when Path of Exile Mobile will appear. However, once the version is out, it’s a strong candidate for this list.
