Pokémon Go Fest in Berlin – Yay or Nay?!
The idea of an event for Pokémon Go where players can finally meet again after years of pandemic restrictions isn’t bad per se. Already the Community Day events over the past few months have shown that coaches embrace the opportunity to meet live. Alone at the Safari zone in Seville this month were more than 20,000 people on site. In that way, Pokemon is doing great. But does it also work when steep prices are linked to such a real-life meet-up opportunity?
Even the Johto tour made one or the other fan hesitate…
In February, the of the Event Johto-Tour that Pokémon Go players have been waiting for, as a continuation of the Kanto Tour in 2021 – and very likely in February 2023 the Hoenn Tour will be hosted in Pokémon Go. Between the December 2020 announcement and the actual event in February 2021, the Pokémon Go folks decided to make the ticket less attractive for the Johto Tour. Not just the price, but also what was on offer.
The main feature of a region tour is that the Shinys of the corresponding region’s Pokémon then become available in the game and that tour ticket holders benefit from a boosted Shiny chance on the respective day. In the three months since the Johto Tour was announced, the folks at Niantic have thrown in numerous more Johto Shinys, making the Shiny buff of the ticket less attractive.
At the time, we started a survey as to how many participants would buy a ticket for the Johto tour. Around two-thirds of those who voted said they would not get the ticket. The price long between about 10 and 13 euros. Now the Pokémon Go Fest 2022 is coming up on June 4th and 5th, 2022; the ticket price for this digital event is between 13 and 15 euros.
Pokémon Go Fest in Berlin – too expensive or priced correctly?
At the beginning of June 2022, the Pokémon Go Fest will take place in Berlin, a similar event for Pokémon Go trainers. The cheapest ticket for participation in the event in the Britzer Garden costs almost 25 euros. There are additional options that you can put your money into. In general, Niantics would be interested in an answer to the question of how they set their prices. We have previously reported that Pokémon Go Fest in Sapporo is slightly cheaper in terms of prices. The Pokémon Go Fest 2019 in Dortmund, on the other hand, was priced similarly to the Pokémon Go Fest in Berlin now – the event ticket for the period between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. was 25 euros; for the time between 08:00 and 18:00 at 35 euros. In other words, the early bird ticket for Berlin is even cheaper. Because an event hour is missing? Then it should look similar to the standard ticket. In fact. Whatever the case, it is expected that at least 100,000 Pokémon Go players will come to Berlin over the three days of the event. That’s a pessimistic estimate, for some people the pandemic still plays a role. Will you be among those players traveling to Berlin?
